Lions, Bears, & Giants

1 Samuel 17:34-37

34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.

Three Stages Of Growth In David’s Life:

1. Lion

2. Bear

3. Goliath

Each one gave him strength and faith to conquer the next level.

Each level not only prepares us for the next level, but also builds our faith for what God can do through us!

Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our power lies in His ability to do work through us!

5 Common Denominator’s to David’s Victories:

  1. 1.    Went Out – At the moment of attack, David went to meet the aggressor; he didn’t hesitate, only acted.

  1. 2.    Delivered – Took back what was rightfully his to start with anyway.

  1. 3.    Arose Against Me Never faltered with the original plan; destroy the enemy: he was not to be denied victory.

  1. 4.    Caught Him By His Beard – He would not let him get away; he intended to finish the job.

  1. 5.    Slew Him – He finished the job completely.

Calvary Tabernacle’s Mission Statement:

Never before in the history of the world, has there been a darker hour. Sin has been loosed to work for just a few days, and its power has been unleashed. We have never faced such overwhelming odds and obstacles in our way. The home is deteriorating, morality is at an all-time low, and sin is just running rampant in the darkness of our world. In ourselves, we are so inadequate and frail. When you look at what we have to offer, from our own abilities and talents, we fall way short of what it will take to turn our own community around, much less the world.

This is definitely the church’s greatest challenge to date…

But…

Never have we been this close to the coming of the Lord!

Never has the opportunity for revival been so great!

Never has there been such a need for the church in the world as there is today!

We have come unto the kingdom for such a time as this!

As Christians, we accept the challenge, and not only accept, but we gladly look forward to the conquering of our city for God. This is not our weakest moment, but our strongest hour is still to come. We gladly proclaim to the masses that Repentance, Baptism in Jesus name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues is still the essential plan of salvation. We will boldly shout from the housetops that we believe Holiness, Righteousness, Worship, and Godly living is the only way to make it to Heaven. The church has one purpose, and one purpose only, and that is to reach every man, woman, boy, or girl with the gospel of Jesus Christ before the rapture. We will spare no cost, we will go to any length, and we will not be stopped, detoured, or hindered in accomplishing this goal.  Every program, every person, and everything we do will be weighed in the balance of soul winning. We are not playing games, this is not a joke, but rather this is life or death, heaven or hell. We will tirelessly continue the course that is being set toward an outpouring of the Holy Ghost. We are not in this for personal gain or glory, but rather that when the trumpet sounds, somebody else will also be raptured with us.

We pledge our undying support to God, the Church, our burden for the lost, and our pastor in accomplishing this task. We pledge our finance, time, labors, health, and prayers in doing the will of God!

Our battle cry will be revival, our power will be our prayer, our weapons will be our worship, our strength will be our unity, our destination is Heaven and our mission will be salvation for all of lost humanity. Our time has come, our hour is now, and from this moment forward, we will be in continual revival until Jesus comes!

Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Let Us Have Revival!

This must become our heartbeat!

Why Do We Have Church?

Luke 4:18-21

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

1. Preach the gospel to the poor.

2. Heal the brokenhearted.

3. Sight to the blind.

4. Set at liberty them that are bruised.

5. The acceptable year of the Lord.

Our job is to reach the entire community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, before He comes back!

What Do We Have To Use To Help Us Accomplish This Goal?

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Praise:

Joshua 6:20-21

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

2 Chronicles 20:20-22

20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.

22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

Prayer:

Acts 12:5-16

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

God:

Isaiah 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
