Right Here Is The House Of God And Right Now Is The Gate Of Heaven

James 2:19-20

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Men can have a natural inclination to be lazy. We would rather play than work and this attitude can affect our lives very drastically. This mindset can even be brought to the church!

God has won the victory, so there is no need to struggle.

God will forgive anything, so why resist sin?

God gave me a righteous wife, so why lead the family in spiritual matters?

Some men try too hard to be recognised on this planet. They work too hard to win the approval of their wife and kids. They struggle for affirmation, not knowing they will be loved. They bring this mentality to church as well. They serve the Lord out of guilt or in order to earn their salvation. They do all the right things for the wrong reasons, until they burn out, and then give up, thinking there are no right reasons!

Philippians 2:5-8

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Let this mind be in you, Fathers, that was in Christ!

Can we step down from our throne of glory?

Can we understand authority is great responsibility (not privilege)?

Can we accept our job description as the High Priest for our family?

Matthew 20:26-28

26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Jesus came on a mission to serve others. He came to give Himself for the world. A good husband and father should seek the benefit of his wife and children.

“Who we really are is who we are at home!”

Let’s lead our families to church every Sunday. Let’s lead our families in devotions regularly! Let’s lead our families in prayer regularly! Let’s encourage our families to be honest, forgiving, and Godly! We must move from the NATURAL to the SUPERNATURAL! God has given us CREATIVITY and the SPIRIT to give us new eyes! If we use reason, we might focus on problems! Problems declare the limits of our potential! If we use creativity, we will focus on God’s power!

God’s power declares the enlargement of our opportunities!

“I never did that before” becomes, “I will figure out how to do it!”

“What will the kids think” becomes, “What will the Lord think?”

“I don’t know the Bible” becomes, “This will help me learn the Bible!”

“I don’t know how to discuss that with my kids” becomes, “I couldn’t live with myself if I let my kids ruin their lives because I was afraid!”

Genesis 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Men, your family is only as safe and as healthy as the covering that you provide for them.

Adam needed a Helper (ezer) to help him, to strengthen him, to complete him, to enable him to fulfil his God-given purpose, and to reach his God-given potential.

Psalm 121:1-2

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

None of us imagine that the Lord is our help in that we need Him to make sandwiches for us, to clean the house, or to watch the kids.

A wife is blessed indeed to participate in a family led by a strong Christian man. Strong Christian men are: Not afraid to receive assistance, Not afraid his wife might be smarter than him, Not afraid of what people might think about him, Not afraid his wife might be right once in a while, Afraid his lustful heart might ruin his beautiful family, Afraid his pride and arrogance might destroy him, Afraid to fail the Lord in his responsibilities, and Afraid to fail his family in passing on Christian life skills!

Genesis 28:16-17

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
