I Am A Seed Sower

Luke 8:5-8 (MSG)

5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. Some of it fell on the road; it was tramped down and the birds ate it.

6 Other seed fell in the gravel; it sprouted, but withered because it didn’t have good roots.

7 Other seed fell in the weeds; the weeds grew with it and strangled it.

8 Other seed fell in rich earth and produced a bumper crop. “Are you listening to this? Really listening?”

Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

There are some things that you should be proud of being good at:

  • Father
  • Husband
  • Ball player
  • Cook

Why should we be concerned with sowing seed?

What is the purpose of sowing seed?

What benefit does soil have from receiving seed?

Why should we be concerned with sowing seed?

  • Scriptural mandate
  • Maturity in our relationship with God

Genesis 8:22 (NKJV) “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

  • Are we to be selective where we sow seed?
  • Should we ration out the seed?
  • We have a scriptural mandate to sow seed, not select soil.

YOU CANNOT REAP, WHERE YOU HAVE NOT SOWN!

John 4:31-36 (MSG)

31 In the meantime, the disciples pressed him, “Rabbi, eat. Aren’t you going to eat?”

32 He told them, “I have food to eat you know nothing about.”

33 The disciples were puzzled. “Who could have brought him food?”

34 Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.

35 As you look around right now, wouldn’t you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I’m telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what’s right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It’s harvest time!

36 “The Harvester isn’t waiting. He’s taking his pay, gathering in this grain that’s ripe for eternal life. Now the Sower is arm in arm with the Harvester, triumphant.
