There’s Water In The Rock

John 4:7-14

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

• “There’s gold in them there hills”
• It set off thousands of men to the Black Hills of South Dakota
• They broke laws, trespassed on other peoples property, and did what ever it took, because there was gold in the hills

When our desires supersede anything that may try to stop us, there is nothing that is impossible with God!!!

• Law of the hungry
• David at the temple
• Jesus eating and picking corn on the Sabbath day
• Man eating dust

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Our hunger and thirsting for the miraculous of God to take place in our lives will drive us to the place to where God can work in us and through us.  God is able to do abundantly above all that we could ask or think!!!!!!

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Even when things look impossible to anyone else but God, keep looking up because your redemption draweth nigh!!!

Exodus 17:5-7

5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.

6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

• God led them to this place by the pillar of fire and the could by day
• This was a strait that was a barren desert

What is a desert?

• No water
• Sand
• Rock
• Void of life
• Extreme heat
• Barren
• Leans toward violence (snakes, weather)

• The children of Israel were not a Motel 6
• But circumstances do not limit God
• God told Moses to use something that he was familiar with, his rod
• Told Moses to smite the rock
• Preparation for a miracle
• Water came forth for about 6 million people and all of their livestock also
• Vast block of granite approx. 15ft x 10ft x12ft
• Porous with holes and channels that only water could create
• In the desert God chose to use something that was dry and contained no liquid qualities whatsoever.
• If you crushed all of the rock in the world, you would get no water from any of it
• From that He created the miracle that they needed
• Digging ditches in the desert does not make any sense

• God took something that always goes the way of least resistance, and put it together that is the epitome of hardness and worked a miracle

Moses called the place Massah because they questioned God.

Massah- tempting the Lord

• Deliverance out of Egypt
• Red Sea
• Food everyday from heaven
• Cloud by day, fire by night
• Quail (2 billion)

YET THEY STILL ASKED THE QUESTION “IS THE LORD AMONG US OR NOT?”

Try to think of one time the Lord has ever let us down.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever

Unbelief stops more miracles from happening to you than anything else!!!

Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Unbelief is faith that God will not do what He said.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

• The unbelieving & fearful are listed with all of the other sinners on their way to hell

Just believe!

Daniel 3:12-25

12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.

14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.  25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

• 3 young men
• Only trained but no experience
• Thousands were bowing, and even their own friends
• Not budging
• Several chances to bow
• Not careful to answer thee
• God is able
• This is only a proclamation of faith, but not actual faith
• It is easy to proclaim faith, but harder to live it
• 7 times hotter
• -2500 degrees
• Killed the men that threw them in
• Bound by ropes in going in
• Fire set them free from what had them bound
• 3 went in, but now there are 4!
• Revival came to the country because of their faith

What situation in your life had you convinced that there was no water, and was going to be no water, ever?

• Desert
• Rocks
• Doubt

The greatest weapon the devil can use against you is to tear your belief in the miraculous power of God working in your life, down.

• He can’t destroy God
• He can’t destroy you
• But if he can destroy your faith in God, he has neutralized both you & God

Fear & doubt is faith in the enemy!

There is water in your rock!
