Why Me?

Why did God call you before your family, friends or co-workers?

  1. You have value

Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more ____________ than many sparrows.

  1. You have a soul

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a ________________ soul.

  1. He loves you!

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the ____________ of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  1. He cares about you.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your _____________ upon him; for he careth for you.

  1. He wants good things to come into your life.

James 1:17 Every good _______________ and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

  1. He wants you to be saved.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

If you feel as though you are alone – you are not alone.

God uses _________________ people for extraordinary purposes.

  • Noah (A righteous man, but given to _________________) Genesis 6
  • David (An ordinary boy, the least in his family – a ________________and adulterer) 1 Samuel 16
  • Gideon (Hiding from his enemies, his father worshipped ________ Gods) Judges 6
  • Rahab Joshua chapters 2&6 (A harlot who God called out of Jericho)
  • Samuel – 1 & 2 Samuel (A little _________ who was given as a servant to the priest)
  • Peter – Mathew 4(A simple fisherman with a bad ____________ and foul mouth)
  • Paul – Acts 7:58 (A murderer & __________________ of Christian families)

Each of these people were called out from their families and friends and had a tremendous impact on not only their family and friends but also entire nations.

All of them were normal people for their day.  There was nothing holy or super spiritual about them.

Some of them had some major problems.

Each of them were called and used for supernatural purposes.

  • Noah built an ark and saved the ________________ race
  • David became the beloved King of Israel and the _______________ of Jesus Christ.
  • God used Gideon to defeat an enormous _______________ with only a few hundred men.
  • The harlot Rahab helped the nation of Israel and became the ___________ of Jesus Christ
  • Samuel was one of the greatest _________ in the Bible. – Anointed Kings.
  • Peter became a mighty __________ of the Early Church.
  • Paul too was a great Apostle and __________________ who wrote much of the New Testament.

Jesus’ disciples had jobs that described them as ordinary men of the day.  Several were fisherman and one was a tax collector.  One was a political zealot.  None of them were theologians!  They were prone to mistakes, faults, misstatements, and lapses in faith.  In a sense, these men were remarkably unremarkable!

The Bible is full of stories of ordinary people just like ____________ who He used to do some extraordinary things.

Why does God use ordinary people?

  • Because people would boast of their own ability if He used them for their talent or ability.

  • Because each one of us has a unique influence in someone else’s life.

  • Because He needs someone to stand in the ____________ between Him and the people around you.

Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it:

  • He is looking for someone He can use.
  • He is not generally particular.
  • He uses anyone who is ________________.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Your relationship with God will affect _______.

  • They watch you…
  • They will test you…
  • They will temp you…
  • …To see if what you say you have is real.

There are people in your life that God is trying to reach and your _____________________ with them is key to them knowing God.

  • This is why we cannot judge others.
  • This is why we are to love them even when they hurt us or “despitefully use us.” Matthew 5:44

There is a call upon each of our lives.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath ____________ you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

We are not islands to ourselves.  There are others around us that He would use us to reach.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  • You have a purpose.
  • There is a unique calling upon your life.
  • There is a reason for your life and why He chose you.

Each person is unique and if willing, a very useful tool for the Kingdom of God.  You have a purpose. God has a design for your life.  There is a reason why He called you.
