8 Steps To A Breakthrough

As we enter into the spiritual realm God has promised us we must be prepared for confrontation.

There is no progress without resistance:

· Jericho was a fortress city, It was the symbol of the Enemy’s strength and Power

· It was made up of Men and women wholly given up to idol worship,

· This city stood directly opposed to Israel’s inheritance.

· This city had great walls that spoke of it’s great strength, it had a reputation for being indestructible.

Josh 5:12 Israel had just begun to taste the goodness of their inheritance, but this Jericho stood in their way.

Josh 6:1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

Some are satisfied right there. You don’t bother me I won’t bother you.

Some churches are satisfied right there. We haven’t gained any but hey we haven’t lost any.

But God is never satisfied with containment –

1. To suppress the enemy is never victory

2. To suppress lust is not victory, anger, resentment, criticism,

3. To suppress means to hold it inside, certainly if you are holding it inside this is not victory, victory is when the cross has destroyed that thing at the root.

5:2-3 Joshua had to Sanctify the people, these were the ones that was left the younger generation; for all the others had died in the wilderness that came out of Egypt.

We must cut ourselves loose from anything of the flesh

He lifted up his eyes and looked (He looked beyond the walls) He looked to the hills from when cometh his help.

He saw a man over against him with his sword drawn. Align yourself with God: Nay as the captain of the Lord’s host I am come then Joshua fell on his face and worshipped.

A. Worship is the key note of Destiny.

B. What saith my Lord? Worship creates the atmosphere for hearing God’s voice

C. Worship opens the eyes and the ears of the heart to Hear God’s voice.

Ac 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

1Samuel- 1:19-20 And they rose up in the morning early and worshipped before the LORD and returned and came to their house to Ramah and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife and the LORD remembered her.

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son and called his name Samuel, saying, because I have asked him of the LORD.

Loose thy shoe from off thy foot: It was to the shoulders of barefooted priests that God entrusted the ark of his presence.

To possess our spiritual inheritance, we must become barefooted. No personal agenda, No selfish ambitions, given up to the plans, purpose and will of God walking softly, tenderly.

It symbolizes an exchanged life.

· My plans for his plans,

· My will for his will,

· My desires for his desires.

When one bad report after another had reached Job’s ears and from a natural perspective he had lost everything.

Job kept himself connected to his destiny.

Job 1:20-21 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshipped,

21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Obedience is the Key: God gave directions to Joshua,

· They were not suggestions,

· They were his commandments,

· Their victory was totally reliant upon their obedience. Working the Word.

People forbidden to speak – Training ourselves to speak only that which edifies and glorifies God and ministers grace.

Col 4:6 Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Mt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Proverb 6:2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Seven is God’s number and it stands for completion, maturity, fruition total obedience.

Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrew 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

When you know you have lifted your eyes above your problem and you have taken off your shoes and stood barefooted and worshipped God,

You have aligned yourself with God and obeyed his voice and you have learned how to speak only that which builds up and edifies all that’s left is to shout.

Not because everything looks right or sounds right or feels right, but because God has said the victory is yours and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Praise is faith expressing itself audibly.

Faith has a voice. Faith calls those things which be not as though they were and those things that be as though they were not.

Faith hears God say it’s done.

And it sees God make it happen and shouts because you believe it’s done.
