The Invasion of the Un’s

Opening Text: 2 Timothy 3:1- 5, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankfulunholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Introduction: The “Uns” have arrived as if they were some kind of aliens from outer space. When I look for answers for why there is so much turmoil facing the world and in the church, especially this one, I have found one major contributor. It is the “Uns” – that walk among us, influenced by un, speaking un, spreading un wherever they go and even converting the “non-uns” into “uns”. The “uns” have the ability to appear “non-un” at will but are un-able to maintain their “non-un” façade and their true nature is revealed under pressure.

I. Who are the “Uns”

A. They are:

1. The Unthankful (always complaining about something)

2. The Unholy (ashamed to be sanctified)

3. The Unforgiving (don’t forgive neither will God forgive you)

4. The Unrighteous (lovers of pleasure more than lovers of god)

5. The Unable (I can’t which is usually I won’t)

6. The Unstable (double minded)

7. The Unbelieving (faithless, impatient)

8. The Unafraid (of God but afraid of Man)

9. The Unashamed (proud of sinful behavior – thinks it’s cute)

10. The Uncontrolled (spirits, emotions and thoughts)

11. The Unpredictable (will change on you in an instant)

12. The Untrustworthy (can’t be depended on)

13. The Untruthful (Liars)

14. The Unclean (filthiness of flesh and spirit)

15. The Ungodly (human reasoning resist God’s wisdom and kicks God out)

16. The Unloving (selfish and uncaring)

17. and the Unrepentant (no true remorse for sin)

II. Is there a cure for the “Uns”; can they be defeated?

A. God’s words to Judah and Israel by the prophets Jeremiah and Hosea when the “Uns” invaded them:

Jeremiah 4:1-4, “If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove. And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench [it], because of the evil of your doings.”

B. Hosea 10:12 – 15, “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon [her] children. So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.”

1. Acts 1:11, “Break . . . fallow ground–that is, Repent of your idolatry, and so be prepared to serve the Lord in truth ( Hsa 10:12 Mat 13:7 ). The unhumbled heart is like ground which may be improved, being let out to us for that purpose, but which is as yet fallow, overgrown with weeds, its natural product.”

2. Fallow – 1. (of land) plowed but left unsown 2. uncultivated

III. If the “Uns” have invaded your house evict them for you should not be acting like aliens, nor should you rent out space to them. The “Uns” will destroy your property.

A. God desires to move in and abide there forever.

1. Ephesians 2: 1- 22, “And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us]; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

CONCLUSION

Break up your fallow ground

Lay a solid foundation

Build with the right material

Return to God – Love God – Love God’s Body – Obey God’s Words

AVOID THE “UNS”

THE “UNS” MUST GO

HAVE YOU BEEN INVADED?
