When You Play With Fire You Are Going To Get Burned
Text: Psalms 78
It is a known fact that people that play with fire sooner or later get burned. It is evident that somewhere in the course of life, if you play with God, you are going to find that God is fire and God consumes and devours the unfaithful.
People need to understand that sin is of the devil and when you commit it you are going to reap from the demonic powers that are driving you to commit such an act.
Prov 6:16-18 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief.
The scripture of the Prophet Isaiah gives us clear description of the consequences of sinning against God.
Isa 59:1-14 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
These are the spirits that possess many people— there is a spirit of direct rebellion of all authority.
People become their own priest and make their own decisions who fail to hear what thus says the Lord. Saul did this not waiting upon Samuel the Prophet and lost his Kingdom and lost his life and cost the lives of his son and those that followed him.
Verse 7. Tells us much of what causes these evil things to come upon people. Verse seven of Isaiah 59—Evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
You cannot make your own way with your own understanding you need guidance from God and without it there is no [peace in your life and you make everyone that is connected to you miserable.]
Here are the consequences of Rebellion
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
You think you are ok and in reality you are in the worst state of mind that you have ever experienced.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
You try everything except the right thing and you aren’t finding your way. You are looking here and there but all in vain.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
You can’t find God until you admit I am a sinner and I need someone to show me the way to salvation and then obey it!
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
You know you are doing wrong but you won’t admit it. You know what you’re doing isn’t working—- but you can’t seem to escape the clutches of Satan.
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Lies
Satan has entered in— you are trapped by the deception of Satan and you know you are in direct disobedience to God.
Satan has destroyed the lives of many through vain deceit making a person justify their sins.
Do you know how to tell Satan is trying to get at you?
1. His first tactic is to get you to question God.
2. Second he tries to get you to show your power and when you have none you become the object of his deceit.
3. He wants you to draw attention to yourself so that it will draw away the holiness Of God.
4. He will offer you the world and if you accept it he has conquered you and the Spirit of God leaves and Satan takes control of your body.
When evil Spirits come in, your whole countenance changes, what use to be happy become depressed.
What once was full of joy now becomes hate, the people you once loves so much becomes strangers.
Satan used these tactics in Matthew Chapter four against Jesus.
You will notice Godly people you use to love being around you will avoid. Genesis chapter 3:4-10
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid, because I was naked and I hid myself.
When once they delighted in the presence of God now they hid because the moment they obeyed Satan they no longer wanted to be around God.
That is exactly how a person is when they have sinned against God they hide form the ones that loves them the most.
You had the warning just like Eve had but you thought “I know what I want in life”
But now sin is conceived and Satan has been glorified in your fall.
1. Everything I do here is to benefit you and to help you make it to heaven.
2. Every message I preach is to give you instructions from the Lord.
3. Every prayer I pray is to help me find directions for this church.
Moses went to the mountain and fasted and came into the presence of God to hear what God had to say and he would go back and tell the people thus saith the Lord.
But many of them would not hear, but many did. They that heard Moses and followed him were blessed. They that disobeyed Moses were destroyed.
Don’t get me wrong the disobedient hung with the camp they ate of the manna, they drank the water from the rock and ate the quail— but they died by the thousands right in the middle of where everyone else was being blessed.
They heard the voice of God they just didn’t obey it.
Satan is the reason for all this chaos he can influence those who willingly rebel against God.
When he comes remember he brings with him more then you realize.
Matt 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept and garnished.
45 Then goeth he and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself and they enter in and dwell there and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Could you imagine being worse than you were before you knew God?
He brings sickness, disease, poverty, hate and envy, lying and cheating, deceiving because there is no good in him and there will be no good in you or your children.
Why do you think there is so much war? Why do you think parents are killing their own kids? And kids are killing their own parents? Satan.
Why do you think there is so much drug abuse, abortions, divorces, prostitution, war people dying by the millions and people disobeying God? It’s Satan.
Human flesh giving into demonic powers and never realizing what is going on.
· Do you think those mad fits you throw when you don’t get your way comes from God?
· Do you think when you question the bible and its authority do you think that comes from God?
· Do you think when you lie about your giving and you hold back that it’s from God?
Surely you are not so simple to think God is the author of confusion.
God doesn’t come to your house and cause you to fight with your husband/wife or mistreat your children.
1. Satan knows if he can get you to fighting in the home you won’t feel like praising God at church.
2. You won’t pray because Satan will convince you that God won’t forgive you.
3. It’s Satan that comes to you and convinces you that you don’t fit in.
It’s Satan that keeps you from the house of God. It’s Satan that puts the thought in your mind no like me or my kids.
Everything evil comes from Satan—everything good comes from God.
When you read the horoscopes, use tarot cards and even the cards they use in the casinos and gambling houses, movies with violence, games with violence, when these thing infiltrate your home you are setting yourself of to open the door to Satan and every evil act he can perform.
Even the music you listen to even so called Christian music sung by people who don’t even believe in God but do it for the money it can affect your home and your walk with God.
