It’s Time to Move Forward
A short message with a Powerful Meaning!
Deut 2:3 ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
We have been going in circles like Samson chained to the Philistines grinding mill.
Blinded by the enemy of his soul.
Samson was bound by his enemy because he lusted after a worldly woman.
Once the world finds the secret of your strength like Delilah found Samson’s it will never give up until it either blinds you or destroys you or you overcome it by your love for God.
1. Ladies the secret of you strength is your hair and your holiness and your obedience toward God. The world works on you until they either defeat you or you defeat them, it will be your choice.
2. Men holiness and separation is our strength we cannot let down our standards it is the armor that repels the fiery darts of the enemy.
3. Children as long as you flirt with the world you will never overcome the world.
Israel was in the wilderness for forty years… a year for each day the spies were in land of Canaan and they refused to go in and possess the land.
Demas was drawn back into the world because he desired to be popular.
Judas’s greed caused him to betray the master.
If we are going to be saved we must go forward and not backward.
Egypt was bondage and Canaan is freedom.
Israel was tired of the laws of Egypt they thought being free from Egypt they were free to do as they willed.
But in the wilderness God gave them the Laws of God, not laws to bind a man but laws that would set their souls free and give him Godly directions.
1. They were laws of morality, leading them to live moral lives and be pure.
2. Laws that separated them from all the rest.
3. Good laws that made you a better person.
4. Laws where by a person could have a better and prosperous life.
Every law that God has given us, is to better us.
They obeyed their taskmaster because of the whip but they couldn’t obey their deliver because of his laws of love and obedience.
They desired the fleshpots of Egypt and would have gone back to the whip the bondage of slavery.
But God wanted to make a better life for them, he promised them the land, he gave them victory over all their enemies.
1. He feed them food from heaven and gave them water to drink in a dry thirsty land.
2. He showed them signs and wonders more than any man could imagine.
3. Their shoes never wore out their clothing lasted forever.
4. There was not a feeble one among them until they rebelled against God.
5. He covered them from the heat of the day with a cloud.
6. He protected them with fire by night but still they looked back. Back at the world of bondage slave to sin and abuse.
He gave them water from a Rock. But still they longed for Egypt. Church we must go forward.
Not back to world, not back to the slavery of alcohol and drugs and every vile thing that the world has produced to keep us in slavery
If we are going to make it to heaven we have to go forward.
a. But you can’t make it looking back
b. You won’t make it holding onto the world—
c. we must set our eyes toward heaven we need to call it home, we are going home, home to be with the one who delivered us from sin.
