Holiness in God

Colossians 1:13

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

To live for God successfully and victoriously we have to have the whole counsel of God. We just can’t take the two were three ingredients that we like and neglect the rest. But we need everything that God has for us. God’s word is given to us to show us what is right and what is wrong for God is the definition of holiness.

Anything that heaven and earth possesses has a beginning and that beginning is in God.

Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

It is possible to be born of God and not have a relationship with God. For we see in the Scripture that we just read that the people did not know him. When no relationship has developed there is a void. Israel had a relationship with the heaving gods of the other nations.

Jeremiah 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Israel learned and accepted the practices and the lifestyles of the nations surrounding her. We as children of God do not need to accept the practices and lifestyles of the people surrounding us.

Isaiah 45:6-7 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. (7) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Because of the evil of Israel God said he makes peace and creates evil witches calamity and judgment for rebellion against God. You may ask the question what gives God that right to do that?

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

God formed the earth, made the earth, and established the earth. He is the founder and as founder, he writes the laws and he has the right to tell us what is right and wrong. God is the foundation upon which we built.

Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (26) And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: (27) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The wise man built and the foolish man built the wording in verse 24 and verse 27 is the same except one built his house upon the rock and one built his house on the sand. The word of God is the foundation upon which we build so that our lives have a true relationship with Jesus Christ.

To stand the test of time we have to build our faith our doctrines and our life upon the word of God and not of this world.

Colossians 2:8 & 10 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

When we look at the word of God we look to God’s expression, God’s will, God’s mind to us.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God is still holy and God expects his people to be holy. It was not just in the Old Testament but in the New Testament and for us today.

Leviticus 11:44-45 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (45) For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

The word sanctify is to be made holy it is separated from something but it is also separated unto something. To live a truly holy life we separate ourselves from the world and we have unification and relationship with God.

Our God is a separate God and a pure God he separates himself from anything that is not pure. He is different from any of the rules or believes system that is in this world, he has his own.

If we separate from the world aware do we go? Separation demands movement and so we go to God. The word of the Lord is telling us not to associate to that which he does not associate with.

Holiness does not depend upon what we separate from but what we separate unto. Ladies you can quit wearing your pants, makeup, jewelry and not cut your hair and not be holy. Men ye can wear long pants and dress modestly have short hair lay off your makeup and jewelry not cost smoke or drink that is not make you Holy. We separate ourselves unto God to walk in the power of the spirit and then as we walk in the power of the Spirit we will not do those things that are displeasing to the Lord. We have to join ourselves to what is holy and that is God. Holy people don’t do the things that are displeasing the God.

1 Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The Bible commands us to be holy in all manner of our living. Some say I can’t live holy of the Lord would not tell you live holy if you could not do it. He wants to bring you out a spiritual Egypt. We are called by name For you see he has called you to the holy..

Every group of people that is called by the name of Jesus Christ is going to be a holy people. We are going to be different from the world. We have to make up in our minds that we are either on one side or the other we are on God’s side or the world side.

The most distinct attribute of God is not love but as holiness because love is no good without holiness or separation. We show our love to God by separating from the world and separating on the God and doing those things that are right because we have for sake and all others. Jesus died for the world but he tells us to come out of darkness into his marvelous light that is something we have to do.

John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (20) For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. (21) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Everything we get from God is based upon his holiness for God is holy. God is holy and that is why we have to be holy.

The innermost being is holy

Psalms 28:2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

His name is holy

Ezekiel 36:20-21 And when they came to the nations to which they went, they profaned My holy name in that men said of them, These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go forth out of His land. (21) But I had regard, concern, and compassion for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they went.

His Spirit is holy

Isaiah 63:11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

God will not dwell in darkness with you he will only dwell in the light. God will not do well with say and because he is holy when we become holy it is because we have become separate because he has touched and filled us with his spirit. Holiness it is interwoven with our obedience.

Exodus 19:5-6 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: (6) And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

If we want God to receive us and accept us we have to separate ourselves.
