What’s Your Level Of Expectation?

Rom 8:19, 24-26

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

KJV

· Our talk is affected by what we are. Our emotions are governed by our limited understanding. Our Spirits cry out to god out of sincere desire to Know Him. The level that we know Him, understand Him, experience Him, comes from the Level of Expectation we have for Him.

· If you want to see blinded eyes open – You must have an expectation in Jesus

· If you want to see cancer healed – You must have an expectation in Jesus

· If you want to see drug addicts delivered – You must have an expectation in Jesus

· If you want to see depression flee – You must have an expectation in Jesus

Phil 1:20-21

20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

KJV

· Paul said my expectation and my hope will be found in Christ Jesus. I may live or I might die, but when it’s all said and done, I found my Hope In Him…

· In our scripture text, Paul was telling the church at Rome, if you can see it, then it’s not Hope! Hope is seeing things as they can be! Hope is seeing things as they should be! Hope is seeing things as an expectation that the Power of God has made a way.

Blind Bartimaeus

· His Expectation was to receive His sight. His level of expectation can be seen in Mark 10

Mark 10:46-52

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

· Immediately his level of expectation was heightened. He knew that Jesus could Heal Him, so He had to get to Jesus.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

· The level was so High that nobody could keep Him quite. Nobody could keep Him down. Blind Bart knew that he could miss his chance if he did not act out His expectation.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

· Out of expectation, he casted away a garment that he had worn all his life that marked him as a blind beggar.

· Tonight I am preaching to somebody that needs to just get rid of the garment. Somebody needs to get a higher level of expectancy.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

KJV

· Jesus said, your expectancy has made you whole…

Upper Room

Acts 2:1-4

2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

KJV

· From their expectation there was another expectation…It was like wildfire.

Acts 2:14-18, 37-41

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

· Peter received the Holy Ghost after sitting in expectation from the words of Jesus. Now he is doing what Jesus did. He is preaching the Kingdom things to men who did not have the same understanding or expectation as they did.

· It’s amazing that when the Spirit is working, the level of expectation begins to grow. The more Spirit working in the church, the more to expect.

· Souls are saved out of expectation

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

KJV

· Out of Peter preaching about Jesus, there was a level of expectation that caused 3000 to be added to the 120 that was in the upper room…

To Crossroads Members

· We are not to accept that what has been happening, and what is happening will always happen. **Deliverance from any situation, any disease, any bad circumstance, usually is experienced after you have an experience of dissatisfaction.

· When are you going to be tired of depression

· When are you going to be tired of sin

· When are you going to be tired of sickness

· When are you going to be tired of the devil’s lies

· When are you going to be tired of being the same day after day.

· It’s time that some of you get life. It’s time that some of you get tired of living in Hell and get an expectation of living in Christ.

o Jesus is prosperous.

o Jesus is life.

o Jesus is hope.

o Jesus is love.

o Jesus is joy.

o Jesus is peace.

· If you want this in your life, then move your level of expectation!

· Some of us are living at the same level for so many years, we have gotten used to staying there and you’re living off of what other people give you!

· It’s time that you be the one who shouts. Don’t wait for somebody else

· It’s time that you get out and dance in the Spirit. Don’t wait for somebody else.

· It’s time that you be the one who travails in the Spirit. Don’t wait for somebody else.

· We get caught up into waiting for somebody else so much that we miss Supernatural.

· There is some of you that are going through some troubles. You are experience financial problems. You are experiencing health problems. You are experiencing problems you don’t want others to find out about.

· You might crying all the time, You might be sucking you thumb, but you must desire more than this, because God functions with desire…**If you only desire crumbs, then you’re going to be a crumby person

· It’s time that we stop coming to church with the though of, “I hope we have good church.” That’s spiritual welfare. You are expecting the choir to rock, you are expecting Sis. Jamie to travail, you are holding on to spiritual welfare…**you need to make good church**

It’s more than crumbs

Matt 15:26-28

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

KJV

· Great is your expectation. She was willing to take whatever he could give, because she knew that just the crumbs off what He could give was more than she had.

· You might be here tonight and you need healing for your body. He offers more than crumbs.

· You might be here tonight and you need the Holy Ghost. He offers more than crumbs.

· You might be here tonight trapped by an addiction. He offers more than crumbs.

· You might be here tonight and you feel there is no hope. He offers more than crumbs.

Conclusion

o Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the Lord.

o Ahead was the unknown.

o Behind Him was a past.

o Jacob was consumed with getting the blessing that only God could give. He knew that if he could just get a blessing, then everything would be ok…

o Jacob was holding on to that angel with expectation…He was not letting him go until he blessed him, until he touched him, until he transformed his life…

o I want to know, if there is anybody here tonight, that wants the King of the Kingdom to transform their life.

o Is there anybody here tonight that wants to wrestle with God in expectation that he will deliver.

o Why don’t you grab the person’s hand next to you and let’s leave by way of Altar tonight.
