The Removing of Uzziah

Isaiah 6:1

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Uzziah was a popular king. He reigned for 52 years. He defeated the Edomites, Philistines and Arabians. HE built Jerusalem into a secure city. He helped to promote cattle raising, and agriculture to the land. He brought prosperity to the kingdom of Judea.

Uzziah though, took on himself to offer sacrifice of incense to the Lord and because of this he was stricken with leprosy the last years of his life.

When Uzziah was removed, Isaiah saw the Lord and saw him in his glory, power and majesty .  Not only did he see the Lord but he saw the Messiah, the crucifixion and that the Messiah was Jehovah God himself. He had his inauguration to a higher degree of the prophetic office.

As he saw the Lord after Uzziah was removed he realized what kind of person he was.

Isaiah 6:5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

But after he saw the Lord in his glory and power and majesty he was not left in the state of despair but an angel came and brought cleansing.

Isaiah 6:6-7  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:  (7)  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

All this happened after Uzziah was removed. There are Uzziahs in our lives that need to be removed if we are going to see the Lord in his glory, power and majesty.

Hebrews 12:1-2  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,      (After we lay aside those things then we can see Jesus)     (2)  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We have to get our eyes off man, the ability of man and the things of man and see the Lord. To be touched, changed, and grow closer to the Lord the Uzziahs have to be removed. Can we accept the fact that we are in need of change or just because our kingdoms are fortified, prosperous and doing well we do not see the Lord?

Here is the biography of one that saw the Lord and himself.

Mark 10:17-22  And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?  (18)  And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.  (19)  Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.  (20)  And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.  (21)  Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.  (22)  And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

The Lord is asking if you are you willing to move the Uzziahs out of your life to see the Lord as you never have and to experience his glory, power and majesty?

We have to be willing to follow him no matter the cost.

Matthew 19:29  And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

The Uzziahs have to be removed. You say I have an experience with the Lord, so did Isaiah, but to move up higher and see the King of Kings and Lord of Lords as you never have you have to remove the Uzziahs out of your life.

Revelation 3:17-18  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:  (18)  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Follow Me-Now!

“And another also said, ‘Lord, I will follow Thee; but let me first go bid them farewell which are at home at my house.’And Jesus said to him, ‘No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God'” (Luk_9:61-62).

·        “I will follow You, Lord, but first let me see if my parents approve.”

·        “I will follow You, Lord, but first let me go to a few more parties. And as soon as I get that out of my system, I will settle down.”

·        “I will follow You, Lord, but first let me get married. As soon as I establish a home, I will follow you.”

·        “We will follow You, Lord, but first let us raise our children. They are so small now, and it is difficult to carry them along while following You.”

·        “We will follow You, Lord, but first let us get our children through high school. We have to work six days a week to pay the bills, and the children are so busy with school activities that there just is not time to follow You.”

·        “I would like to follow You now, Lord, but I must first see if my husband will come, too. I do not want to follow You alone.”

·        “I will follow You, Lord, but first let me retire. Then I will have time to follow you.”

·        “I would like to follow You, Lord, but it is too late now. I have not done it all these years, and You cannot teach an old dog new tricks.”

Death comes at last, and the day of salvation is over. One is separated from God eternally because one put off following Christ until it was too late.  Yes, there is a cost to remove the Uzziahs out of your life but have you counted the cost of not removing them?
