Stick With What You Know

John 9:24-25

We are living in a specialized world where everyone is seemingly specializing in something.  Even in the medical field we find that the day of the general practitioner is all but gone.  We are now served by specialty medicine.  We have the Cardiologist – Dermatologist – Neurologist – Urologist – Radiologist – Gynecologist –  and the list goes on and on.

Each of these professionals are dedicated to serving us in the field of specialty medicine.  It goes without saying, that when it comes to our health, we want our physicians to stay within the field of their expertise.

We do not want the Gynecologist attempting to pull teeth and arrange braces.  Nor do we want the Dermatologist attempting to perform heart surgery on us.  Certainly, we do not want the urologist recommending exploratory brain surgery.  In other words, when it comes to medicine and our health, we want our physicians to stick with what they know!

The lack of knowledge can be an extremely dangerous thing.  And in the spirit world it is no different.  This is why that God said through the prophet Hosea that:

My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge

The devil is counting on catching you in a mentally and spiritually unprepared state of mind.  This is how confusion is born.  Many folks have started out for the Lord and somewhere along the way they have become sidetracked by side issues of non relevance and fallen by the way side.

It can be safely said that the greatest weapon in the arsenal of hell is that of “Confusion Born of Uncertainty.”  We find ourselves facing things and having no understanding as to why we face them.  We find ourselves going through situations and having no understanding as to why we are going through them.  We have things happen to us and we have no idea why these things are happening.

It is in these times that the enemy attacks our minds and attempts to portray God as an impersonal being with little impact upon our lives.  After all, why would God let us go through this horrendous difficulty if it was within His power to prevent it?

The reason the devil wants us to focus on what we don’t know, is because it distracts us from that which we do know, thus alienating us from the power of the NOW promises of God in our lives.

In Our Text

·        The disciples have come across a man born blind

·        Jesus tells the disciples that the works of God should be made manifest in this blind man’s life.

·        Jesus spat on the ground and anointed the eyes of the blind man with clay and told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam.

·        When the blind man did this he came forth seeing.

The problem with this healing is that it was on the Sabbath Day!

The Pharisees began to take issue that Jesus could not be of God because He had violated the law of the Sabbath.  Not only did they say that Jesus could not be OF God, they said that He was a sinner.

Then they approach this man and said unto him   –  “Give God the praise for what has happened to you – but we know that this man is a sinner.”  The man answered them by saying “Whether he is a sinner or not – I DO NOT KNOW.”  So if you don’t mind I am going to stick with what I DO KNOW.  “I know that I once was blind but NOW I see.”

This man refused to be sidetracked.  This man refused to let the enemy take away the joy of what had happened to him.  His attitude was “I’m not going to worry about what I don’t know – I’M GOING TO STICK WITH WHAT I DO KNOW.

I DON’T know         why I am going through the trials that I am going through

But I DO know        God is faithful

I DON’T know         why I am battling the spirit of depression

But I DO know        that the joy of the Lord is my strength

I DON’T know         why I face so many afflictions in my life

But I DO know        Though many are the afflictions of the righteous – the Lord delivereth them from the all

I DON’T know         why my finances are being depleted by unexpected expenses

But I DO know        the Lord will rebuke the devourer

I DON’T know         why my health continues to fail

But I DO know        the Lord is the one that heals ALL my diseases and infirmities

I refuse to let the enemy sidetrack me and destroy me because of what I DON’T know.  I am going to stick with what I do know  —

I know that when I’m in trouble                                                He’s my present help

I know that when I’m lonely                                                       He’s a friend that sticks closer than a brother

I know that when I’m empty                                                      He fills me with His presence

I know that when I’m weak                                                        Then His strength is made perfect in me

I know that when I have sinned                                                 He cleanses me by His blood

I know that I don’t have to be lost                                            He said that “I go to prepare a place for you”

52 times the Scripture uses the phrase “WE KNOW”

143 times the Bible says “I KNOW”

Now is not the time to be distracted by what we don’t know.  Now is the time to stick with what we do know.

2nd Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day..
