My Time Is Coming

2 Samuel 22:31-34

31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?

33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

34 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet: and setteth me upon my high places.  KJV

1. David composes a song at the end of all the deliverances, which during his life, God had wrought for him.

2. He describes God as being to him a Rock, a Fortress, a Shield, a High Tower, a Place of Refuge, and represents him as being actively his Deliverer and Saviour.

·        David was man that was destined to do a great work for God, but he needed some training time. Some proving time. Oh how he must have felt being the runt of the litter. His brothers making fun of him probably on a daily basis. But, oh David, your time is coming my friend; just hang in there.

·        It must have been frustrating for David the day that Samuel was to come and eat supper with his family. What an honor to have a prophet request to have dinner with you. But David you must still tend to the sheep. We will bring something out to you when Samuel is gone O.K. But, oh David, your time is coming; just hang in there.

·        I can just imagine the look on his brothers’ faces when he found out that God had passed up all his brothers just to make him the new King of Israel. David; your time is coming.

·        All of the times that David fled from Saul, he just kept on reminding himself that his time was coming.

·        David said in Psalms 23:5…Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. KJV

·        Abraham and Sara were old when they had Isaac. But I could just imagine that when Sara’s maid had Ishmael she felt like everyone else’s ship has come in but mine, she must have been devastated. But God told her don’t worry, your time is coming. And it was when she was 90 years old she had Isaac. YOUR TIME IS COMING.

·        Mark 10:46… And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. KJV. YOUR TIME IS COMING.

·        Esther 4:14…For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? KJV.  YOUR TIME IS COMING.

·        John 5:5-9…5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. KJV

This man had waited all his life to be healed. He was not there by accident; God had him right where he needed to be. You are not here by accident; God has you right where you need to be. YOUR TIME IS COMING.

·        Acts 10:1-4…1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. KJV

CORNELIUS YOUR TIME IS COMING.

I believe God wants us to be successful … and yet success is not always obvious. The Chinese bamboo tree does absolutely nothing–or so it seems–for the first four years. Then suddenly, sometime during the fifth year, it shoots up ninety feet in sixty days. Would you say that bamboo tree grew in six weeks, or five years? I think our lives are akin to the Chinese bamboo tree. Sometimes we put forth effort, put forth effort, and put forth effort … and nothing seems to happen. But if you do the right things long enough, you’ll receive the rewards of your efforts.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

YOUR TIME IS COMING!!!
