Remember This Day

Text: Ex. 13:3-5 & 12:14

We have all kinds of important days that we remember ….

Anniversaries—birthdays—holidays—special events—days of infamy 911..………

But our most important day should be “This Day”

For ‘This Day’ He brought us out!!!

“This day”—-“This Month”—–of Abid,—- The Lord Delivered Us!!!

Do you remember the day and the place when the Lord saved you?

(Mine) 1st Wednesday—July 1988—8PM

We should never forget This Day!

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Remember What??——-Paul said, “forgetting those things which are behind me,”

Forget the junk—don’t dwell on immoral thoughts, or wickedness

I. Remember what you were—a bondman—a slave to sin!

Deut 16:12

12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

Deut 24:18

18 But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence:

Deut 24:22

22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt:

Deut 5:15

15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm:

Deut 15:15

15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee:

·        God wants to remember what we were before He found us!

Before he delivered us—cleaned us up—washed us up—straightened us up!

I was a sinner—Bound to a devil’s hell

I was in bondage—I was a captive of sin and shame

I was in bondage—But Praise be to God He Delivered Me!!!

 Eph 2:1-5

2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

1 Cor 6:9-11

fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

………………………………………………………………………………………………

·        God wants us to remember how he delivered us!

With power and majesty and might and great wonders—he delivered us

With great glory and strength!

Deut 4:34

by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

Deut 5:15

the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm:

Deut 6:21

and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

Deut 7:8

8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Ex 13:9

for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

·        When we remember HOW God set us free

·        we begin to realize if he did it then—he can do it again!

·        His power is still the same today!

When the children of Israel wanted flesh to eat—the Lord said you will have for a whole month—Moses began to doubt—600,000 foot men—whole month—all the flocks and fish of the sea?

The Lord’s reply,

Num 11:23

23 And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

Isa 59:1

59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

Isa 50:2-3

Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

2 Kings 7

Syrians had Samaria besieged and Elisha said to the king about this time tomorrow

bout this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel,

He was trodden underfoot because of his doubt and disbelief

All he has to do is speak the word

The world was spoken into existence with the sound of his voice!

He’s just as powerful today—for he changes not!!

Luke 1:37   For with God nothing shall be impossible.

How Long?

Deut 16:3

that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt

all the days of thy life.

·        Why is it so important to remember what he did??

So we don’t loose what we have—the victory—the joy—the peace

________Why do we take so many pictures?

·        Victory is lost the very moment you forget what you won!

All too often—if we forget—We’ll be like that dog Jesus spoke about

________The one that returns to it’s own vomit

·        We will return to the same stench and filth

if we forget how bad it was before he delivered us!

What is there to go back to but a life of misery—pain—heart aches

___________I was lost and miserable when he found me!!

I remember where he found me

But Praise God He Set ME Free

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Why Remember?

We realize

God didn’t bring us out to watch us drown—starve—fail in the way!!!

They were hungry—manna from heaven

They were thirsty—a rock watered them

They had needs—God supplied them all—sandals never wore out

They came to a sea in front of them—mountains all around them—looked like no way out—so it would seem

BUT

God didn’t deliver them to let them fail in the way—He took them through!

·        He may not remove that obstacle in front of you

·        But He Will Take You through It! “My grace is sufficient for thee”

If you trust him and follow him He’ll make a way of escape with every temptation

1 Cor 10:13

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God didn’t let them fail in the way—And he didn’t bring you out to let you die in the way

God sees where you’re at—and gonna take you through with his help!

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.

Closing:

I want you to see the first place God took them to

Ex 13:17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near;

18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea:

WHY? Testing—If He did it before—He’ll do it again—TONITE
