(The Danger of Nearsightedness)

OR….

CAN YOU SEE ALL THE WAY TO YOUR MIRACLE?

 

There are many “Conditions of Vision” that commonly occur in the flesh which have specific parallels in “The Church”! 

Tonight I want to talk about one of them in particular!

I could choose to preach to you about:

1.     Amblyopia – Sometimes called Lazy Eye or Wandering Eye – 3%

2.     ARMD – Age Related Macular Degeneration – Leading Cause of Blindness

3.     Cataracts – Caused by the lens of the Eye becoming Cloudy or Hazy

4.     Strabismus – Cross Eyed – Misalignment – Resulting in Double Vision

5.     Diabetic Retinopathy – Vision Condition caused by an outside Force

6.     Hyperopia – Farsightedness – easily and usually outgrown quickly – 25%

7.     Presbyopia – Normal farsightedness caused by aging – Most over 40

8.     Glaucoma – Vision Condition caused by PRESSURE – 2^nd leading cause of blindness

All of these conditions could and someday may make a powerful message or lesson… BUT

Tonight I want to address the most common condition of vision –

The danger of Myopia or Nearsightedness.

Gen 13:14-15

14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

2 Peter 1:1-10

1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

There is an inherent danger in Nearsightedness – it creates a limited field of vision resulting in An Attitude of Smallness.  It shrinks the borders of your world down to the end of your nose or perhaps the end of your arms.

THANK GOD ABRAM DID NOT SUFFER FROM NEARSIGHTEDNESS!

He would have died standing on the same stone where he received the promise!

Note that the decision of Lot and Abram took place at Bethel, “The House of God”!

PETER UNDERSTOOD IT WAS A CONDITION THAT COULD AFFECT THE CHURCH AND HE WROTE ABOUT IT IN HIS SECOND LETTER!

HOW DID PETER COME TO UNDERSTAND IT COULD HAPPEN????

Acts 2:39

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 10:9-17

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

THANK GOD ISAIAH DID NOT SUFFER FROM NEARSIGHTEDNESS

Isa 9:6-7

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

ELISHA’S SERVANT WAS NEARSIGHTED….  BUT ELISHA KNEW IT COULD BE CORRECTED BY ONE TOUCH OF GOD’S HAND…. The servant was not totally blind… HE JUST HAD EYE TROUBLE!!!!

2 Kings 6:15-17

15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

JESUS WAS NOT NEARSIGHTED!

THE 10 LEPERS WERE AFAR OFF

Luke 17:12-14

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

Mark 5:1-17

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

THE PRODIGAL’S FATHER WAS NOT NEARSIGHTED

Luke 15:20-23

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

HOW BIG IS GOD?  WITH PROPER VISION, HOW FAR CAN WE SEE AND STILL SEE GOD’S PROVISION?

Ps 139
