How to Move God

Luke 7:36-39

36       And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.

37       And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38       And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

39       Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

44       And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

Ground work of the Lady.

Jesus invited to the Pharisees house.

Woman with alabaster box.

Simon questions in himself why Jesus has not done the rebuking (what was expected, carnal)

Luke 7:47

47       Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Our love toward God – “inordinate love”  beyond the limits set by others.

Woman / past the Pharisees (past religions that proclaim they know him, but don’t.)  Walked past the spectators.

Her actions, broke out of the limits that others had set {alabaster box}

The difference: “She has loved me beyond the limits set by others.”  “It moved the heart of God”

Rom 5:5

5          And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Our worship moves God.  Our Love/ His Love

John 3:16

Rom 5:6-8

6          For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7          For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8          But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Why sometimes we get excited, considered dogmatic, according to religions standards – Because we go beyond, enter into a realm of the inordinate love.

Disciples would not take the initiative!

A lady, not worthy, sets the pattern.

World does not understand our ways – They don’t know the intimacy of the love of God we have.

We go beyond mere contact, casual acquaintance.

A lot of coordinated, corporate religion, but does it touch the heart of God?

Fanatic, Holy Roller

Love Him enough to do anything.

This touches the heart of God, and He is moved.

We live too much in a cross-less society of religion.

Matt 16:24

24       Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

“Disciples, you would not, but here is a lady.”

God is still a God that is unrestricted:

Marriage, Finances, Wayward sons and daughters….

Many people stay in the limits of the world.

Don’t get too this, or that, Don’t bring attention to yourselves.

            IN GOD WE TRUST

This lady was a picture of the church coming out of sin.

World is looking for someone to move them past the norm.

Paul – “the love of God constrains me.”

I can live anyway that I want to live!!!

Too many stop before they get to where they really want to be.

Not willing to go beyond the stagnate.

Stony ground.

First commandment – Love, all heart, soul, mind, strength.

Joshua/Caleb – We can conquer

Esther – willing to go to the throne

Hannah – linger in the prayer room

Rachel – give me a child lest I die

Sad to love someone, then they not love them back.

Still an old fashion church / holy church

Closing:

1968 – civil conflict – preacher

white/black in congregation

threats

phone call / car

next morning

wife

Never again would I question the Love of my wife.

Not everyone that says “Lord, Lord,” will enter in.
