Angels Never Die

Hebrews 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Reasons that people are nervous about angels:

·         Ignorance concerning what the Scriptures teach

·         Unbelief in the supernatural (like the Sadducees – Acts 23:8-9)

·         Fear or superstition concerning the unseen realm of spirit beings

·         Adoration, prayer to, or worship of angels

The only infallible revelation we can depend on when it comes to angels is the Word of God!

There are about 300 references to angels in the Bible. Both the Hebrew and Greek words for “angel” mean “messenger.”

Jesus Christ spoke often of angels, and was also ministered to by them.

The Bible clearly shows that there are legions of angels, speaking of thousands or multitudes of spirit beings who worship and serve God.

Angels are POWERFUL! One angel slew 185,000 Assyrians in one night when King Hezekiah needed deliverance from danger.

There are many other cases in the Bible where angels delivered God’s people:

·         An angel ministered to Hagar and Ishmael when they had been cast out and were about to die in the desert (Genesis 21)

·         Two angels rescued Lot out of Sodom before its destruction (Genesis 19)

·         The angel of the Lord stopped Abraham as he was about to sacrifice his son Isaac and showed him a substitute sacrifice (Genesis 22)

·         An angel wrestled with Jacob and changed his name to Israel (Genesis 32)

·         The angel of the Lord gave Moses the revelation of the name of God from the burning bush so he could deliver the Israelites (Exodus 3:2)

·         The angel of God’s Presence went before Israel in the pillar of cloud and fire to lead them (Exodus 14)

·         The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and commissioned him as the deliver of the Israelites (Judges 6)

·         An angel brought food and drink to the prophet Elijah while there was famine in the land (1 Kings 19)

·         An angel delivered Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6)

·         The angel of the Lord preserved the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3)

·         An angel opened prison doors to release the apostles to witness (Acts 5)

·         An angel sent Philip to the desert to witness to the Ethiopian (Acts 8)

·         An angel instructed Cornelius to send for Peter so he could hear the words of the Gospel (Acts 10)

·         An angel rescued Peter out of prison the night before he was to be slain (Acts 12)

·         An angel killed the evil King Herod by smiting him with disease when he was lifted up with pride (Acts 12)

·         An angel stood by Paul when he was in a storm and shipwrecked (Acts 27)

·         An angel will one day bind Satan for 1000 years! (Revelation 20)

Angels are IMMORTAL! That means that every single one of the delivering angels of the Bible is still alive today!

Psalm 34:7  The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Angels are FAITHFUL! Angels have just two functions, worshipping and ministering:

Hebrews 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Psalm 103:21  Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

Hebrews 1:6  And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Revelation 4:8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Revelation 5:11-13  And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Angels were worshippers of God in eternity before they were ministers to the heirs of salvation in time. They will never leave their first function (worshipping) to fulfill their second function (ministering) until we occupy their place of worship! The worship of God must be “24/7”!
