God Is A Blessing God

Genesis 12:1-3 (KJV)

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 22:17 (KJV)

That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

It is impossible to read the Bible and not understand that God has a desire to bless His people. He wants to bless every one of us.

The Hebrew word for bless or blessing is “barak” and that word is used more than 300 times in the Old Testament.

The very first words spoken after the creation of Adam and Eve were these words, “And God blessed them.”

The blessing of God was the secret behind Noah’s escape from the flood that destroyed the antediluvians. The Bible tells us that God blessed Noah and all his sons.

The greatest words that any of us could ever hope to hear from God are the words that He spoke to the great patriarch Abraham when He said, “I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make you a blessing.”

Genesis 22:17 (KJV)

That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

That is something that is supernatural. It is beyond human capabilities. We need the blessings of God upon our lives!

God wants to bless every man and woman under the sound of my voice today. God wants to bless your family; God wants to bless your children,

God wants to bless your posterity, God wants to bless the labor of your hand, He wants to bless your finances and God wants to bless your physical body.

I haven’t come today with some great sermon but I have come with a simple word from God to this congregation and that word is God wants to bless you!

Moses told the Israelites that God would bless them in everything that they did. I would like for you stretch your faith with me today and dare to believe that God wants to bless this church in a measure that He never has blessed us before.

God is a blessing God. God wants to raise this church up and give it a blessing. Every one of us can walk out of here with a blessing today. I’m expecting a blessing today! I’m not going to sit here and drown in sorrow and despair, I refuse to listen to the negative voices of gloom and doom, and there is no devil or nobody that is going to rob me of the blessing that God wants to give me this day! I’m not a prophet but I can stand on the sure and steadfast word of Almighty God and declare that God wants to bless you.

The entire 28th chapter of Deuteronomy speaks of blessing that God wants to give His people.

Deut. 28:1-8 (KJV)

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. 3Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

I could go on and on. Blessing after blessing God promised to His people. Twenty-one blessings were promised to Israel in chapter 28.

Twenty-one Blessings for Obedience

1.  God will set you on high above all the other nations of the earth and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you

2.  You will be blessed in the city

3.  You will be blessed in the field.

4.  You will have perfect offspring

5.  Your crops will be blessed.

6.  Your cattle will increase.

7.  Your flocks will increase.

8.  Your baskets and storehouses will be full of good things

9.  You will be blessed in all you undertake.

10.      You will have complete victory over all your enemies

11.      Your land will be abundantly fertile and productive.

12.      You will be established as a holy people to God

13.      You will be a witness and an example to all people on earth

14.      All nations will be afraid of you.

15.      You will be prosperous in goods, in children, in stock, and in crops in all the land

16.      The Lord will open to you all His good treasure

17.      The heavens will give you rain in due season in all your land.

18.      The Lord will bless all the work of your hands.

19.      You will be prosperous enough to lend to many nations, and you will not need to borrow from them.

20.      The Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail

21.      You shall be above all men and never beneath them.

Somebody said, “Well that’s Old Testament, Those

promises were for Israel…the children of Abraham.

Could I remind you that we are His people! We are His children. We are His bride. We have been grafted into the tree. He loves us and He wants to bless us.

Luke 12:32 (KJV)

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Matthew 7:11 (KJV)

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

You have to believe that God wants to bless you!

Are these blessing automatic? Do they just fall on me? Why aren’t I being blessed? That’s what I want to preach about today.

Deut. 28:1 (KJV)

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

There are 1,595 ifs in the Bible, most of which express the conditions for which God will bless or curse men. Not one unconditional covenant, promise or blessing is found in the Word of God. Every promised blessing has an if attached to it.

I want you to know that every person here can receive the blessing, every family can have it, every church can have the blessings of God but they don’t come automatically.

First, you must turn to Him in passionate, desperate prayer for an outpouring of His blessing and His favor upon your life.

(Third Slide)

1 Chron. 4:10 (KJV)

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

The reason why Jabez stood out in his generation was that he got tired of living in shame, he got tired of living in reproach, he got tired of living in guilt, and he got tired of living in embarrassment and in pain. He cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me indeed.”

I can’t go on living without your blessing. Please enlarge my coast, and let your hand be upon me and the Bible said that God heard his prayer and God granted him what he requested. Jabez was more honorable than his brethren because he knew how to passionately pray for a blessing.

James 4:2 says, “You have not because you ask not.”

It’s time somebody begin to passionately pray for God to bless you. Bless my family, Oh God bless my finances, bless my home, enlarge my borders, bless my situation.

There is only one way to get the blessing of God, you have to pray and call on God, “Oh that would bless me indeed.”

I’m no great preacher and I’m not that smart but I’ll tell you what’s wrong with Christianity today. We have gotten away from prayer. We have our memorized prayers and we have learned to read our prayers and they don’t get any higher than the ceiling.

We need somebody who will cry out from their innermost being with a cry of desperation, “Oh God my back is against the wall, I can’t go any further, I have to have your help.” I need your blessing, I need your touch. I’m tired of living like this; I’m tired of going without. I want a blessing!

God will bless those that go after the blessing.

Jacob passionately pursued the blessing of God.

Genesis 32:26 (KJV)

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

With a dislocated hip he held on until the blessing came.

If you would get that desperate about your family, your marriage, your finances and the problems you face God will help you and bless you.

“Well, if God wants to bless me it will happen when He gets ready in His own good time. God knows my need and when He gets ready to bless me He will.”

Well, God bless you; keep on praying like that and you will probably stay right where you are.

I’ll tell you who God will recognize and bless. It’s somebody that goes after the blessing. “Here I am God bless me.”

Blind Bartimaeus…Jesus have mercy on me. I want a blessing. He wouldn’t shut up. Jesus is coming down the road and I’m going to get my blessing!

Matthew 7:7 (KJV)

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

He didn’t say stand there and just wait on it. He said knock, seek it. I’m not leaving without a blessing today.

You don’t have to be down, you don’t have to be sick, and you don’t have to be depressed. I am giving you a way out.

I don’t know how and I don’t know when but I know that this book doesn’t lie.

God may not give you what you want but He will always have enough of what you need. My wants may be for a few million dollars and 4 or 5 cars and a big new home. That’s my wants but not what I need. God said, I have never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging for bread.

God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. If He owns them he can feed them. God owns you, He knows your name, He knows how many hairs are on your head and if you need something you can call on His name and He will answer you.

Balaam was hired by Balak, king of Moab, to curse Israel. Three different times Balaam tried to curse Israel but every time he opened his mouth a blessing came out. He finally told Balak, “I can’t curse what God has blessed and God has blessed Israel.”

What God has blessed cannot be cursed. When your name was written in the Lambs Book of Life you became on of His and you are blessed.

The devil may work, he may fight, he may seek to devour but he can’t curse what God has already blessed.

There is no devil, no hex, and no curse that can touch the child of God because you are blessed. No witch or sorcerer can reverse the blessing God has spoken into your life. God has a blessing for this church and there is nothing the devil can do about it. God has a blessing for your family and the devil can’t reverse it.

King David and Mephibosheth.

2 Samuel 9.

David wanted to bless the descendants of Saul for his friend Jonathan’s sake. They searched and found a son of Jonathan’s that was crippled and living in Lodebar. His name was Mephibosheth.

2 Samuel 9:5-11 (KJV)

Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar. 6Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!

7And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. 8And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

9Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. 10Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.

That story is a beautiful picture of God’s mercy and love and His desire to bless His children.

We were crippled by sin, broken, battered, and our lives were messed up. One day the King of Kings called us out of Lodebar which means a barren place. He changed our lives and He blessed us in so many ways. He adopted us into His royal family and called us His sons and daughters. And now we can sit at the Kings table and enjoy all the blessings of God.

Ephes. 1:3 (KJV)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Ephes. 2:6 (KJV)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

God is a blessing God! You can receive a blessing today.
