The Trouble with “I”

The dangers of pride and the consuming of oneself with oneself!

The Mistake of Satan

Isaiah 14:12-14 NKJV

–12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

–13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, on the farthest sides of the north;

–14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.

The Words of Satan’s Heart

§I will ascend into heaven,

§I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:

§I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

§I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;

§I will be like the most High.

Seeking the Will of God

§Romans 12:2 NLT

2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

We cannot allow ourselves to be consumed by carnal lusts!

God’s Will Within Our Hearts

§Ephesians 6:6 NLT

6 Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart.

Pleasing God must be our only motivator.

A Thankful Heart

§1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

18 No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Maintaining a thankful heart is the key to a successful life.

Trusting in God’s Plan

§Hebrews 10:36 NLT

36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

We must believe in God’s promises for our life regardless of what things may seem.

Having a Love for God’s Will

§1 Peter 4:1-2 NLT

2 And you won’t spend the rest of your life chasing after evil desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

We can be spared many of the disappointments of life by doing God’s will in our life.

Peace Through God’s Will

§1 Peter 4:19 NLT

19 So if you are suffering according to God’s will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for he will never fail you.

Even in suffering we can find peace knowing that we are pleasing God!

God’s Will – Live Forever

§1 John 2:17 NLT

17 And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.

Our greatest hope is eternal life by doing God’s will within our life.
