The Distress of Loving Lonely God

Isa 63:7  I will mention the loving kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

Isa 63:8  For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

Isa 63:9  In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Love is the greatest need of every human being, not money not education not prestige but love.

A few years ago 2 boys around the age of 10 were arrested and questioned about the brutal murder of a 2 year old little boy

It was apparent to police officers that they had their murderers but the boys kept denying their involvement

Yet they had to be very careful because of politics concerning their ages, the case seemed to be at a standstill, until one of the boys parents told their son no matter what they had done they would always love their son, and he finally confessed.

We must realize today that we have not and cannot do anything that would cause God to stop caring and loving us.

Rom 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Rom 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God so loves humanity, real people with real problems real hang-ups real bad attitudes, that every day god would come to the garden to walk and talk with Adam and Eve.

He wants to be with us, and some of us find that hard to believe because we don’t even want to be with ourselves.

Yet they had sinned and hid themselves, they violated a very clear and concise directive from God there is only 1 tree in the whole garden they were told not to eat from and that is the one they ate from

But God did not kill them, he did not cast them into an eternal hell he made a way for them, a foreshadowing of ages to come was shown in god killing 2 animals to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve.

Blood was shed to cover their nakedness,

God is still into covering up sexual sin immorality stealing alcoholism and drug addiction lying he is not interested in denigrating and embarrassing people,

He moved on Paul writing to the roman church in Rom 8 and he said this there is therefore now no sentence to the prison of guilt and shame and regret to those who are in Christ Jesus.

God understands better than we do, how bad we have been how inconsistent we have been

How much we have taken for granted his mercy and kindness

He knows how we have spit in his face while tears have run down his face

He knows how we have turned our back on him while he has reached his hands to us

Yet he still loves still reaches still cares still desires to be close to us

Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.

John 4 tells us that Jesus needed to go through Samaria because he had to talk to a woman that had been married 5 times and was living with a man now, she had no doubt a very promiscuous lifestyle

Now some would immediately get excited over Jesus meeting with this woman so he could damn and condemn her and rebuke and set her straight yet Jesus needed to go to her

Not to spiritually murder her but to minister

He desired to be with this unchaste woman to show her the love that would not leave to show this 5 time divorced woman that his love will never divorce her

He must need s go through Samaria to give unto this woman a drink from the well that would never run dry.

He looked over Jerusalem and wept because he understood the pain and suffering that would befall this great city for ages to come because of their intense rejection of him

He looked at them as sheep without a shepherd

Their rejection of him didn’t cause him to hate or judge it caused him distress and pain because of his love and concern for their well being.

Jesus stood in front of even those who he knew would cry for his crucifixion and said if any man thirst let him come unto me and drink

This is not a half hearted cry out of duty, this was not a cry made to keep up proper appearances this is the cry from a man who s soul purpose was that he would be born to die

Taking on the sins of all mankind

The prodigal son was a know it all hard headed rebellious boy

The father had worked hard and supplied a very comfortable lifestyle for his family

Yet his son was a disrespectful spoiled stinkin’ kid

And he wanted to leave and he told his dad I want my cut of the inheritance and I want to go

And go he did he went into drinking and messing with prostitutes and spent all he had became homeless and was so hungry he started wanting to eat the pigs slop

And we came to himself he said I need to get back to the fathers house,

He said ill just be a servant in the fathers house

Luk 15:20  And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Luk 15:21  And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Luk 15:22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

Luk 15:23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

Luk 15:24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Oh this father was hurting every day he arose to go spend time looking over the flat fertile fields that his son fled through

He was in distress; he desired to be with this son again

And when he saw him a long way off he ran to him

And in the stinking rotten condition he was in, the father in his rich royal robe embraced this fornicating drunk homeless disgrace and called him son.

We can beat him smack him spit on him put on a crown of thorns on his head make fun of him and crucify him and he will still cry out father forgive them they don’t know what to do
