What’s Wrong With The Name Of Jesus
Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved
Col 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Phil 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I ask the question tonight “What’s wrong with the name of Jesus?”

You may say there is nothing wrong with the name of Jesus, I love that name, and I know it’s not hard for us, in a house full of Jesus name people to stand up and give that name glory, and praise, and honor.
But it may surprise you tonight, that there are religious ceremonies going on all over this country, all over this city and all over this world.
· That are singing about the name of Jesus.
· Preaching about the name of Jesus.
· And praying in the name of Jesus.
But they refuse to take on the name of Jesus in water baptism.
But I have to ask you again; “What’s wrong with the name of Jesus?”
The scripture says; whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Now I don’t know what “ALL” means where you come from but,
“ALL” means everything where I come from.
Acts 4:8-10
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
I’m telling you church, everything we need, everything we desire, everything we long for. Our joy, our peace, our happiness, is found in the wonderful name of Jesus.
Oh how precious it is, it might be old fashion to some, and out of style for others. It may even be unpopular in some circles we find ourselves in. But I have come to proclaim to you, “it is the sweetest name I know”
The Bible says; Acts 4:11
This is the stone, which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
There are those that will try and bypass the lovely name of Jesus.
They have tried to replace the name Of Jesus with:
· Beautiful choirs, that can sing beautiful songs:
· With programs, and dramas, and all kind of extra activities:
But the services are cold, and lifeless, and unmoving.
But something happens in our services when we speak the name of Jesus, or we preach the Name of Jesus, or we sing about the name of Jesus.
Or when we pray in the name of Jesus, or we baptize in the name of Jesus:
Matt 28:18-19…And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
What’s the name of the father? Jesus
What’s the name of the son? Jesus
What’s the name of the Holy Ghost? Jesus
What’s wrong with the name of Jesus?
John 12:32
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
We quote that verse of scripture so often and fail to quote the very next verse with it so often.
Signifying what death he should die.
Need I remind you that he was the only sinless, spotless, pure lame that could be offered up for you and I? And he willing went to an old rugged cross and let them nail he between 2 thieves, where they spit upon him, cursed him, beat him, placed a crown of thorns upon his head and crucified him when it should have been you and I.
And his name is Jesus, and I like Pilate find no fault in him.
It wasn’t Barabbas, it wasn’t Ol-Buddah, it wasn’t Hirer Krishna, Mohammad or Bin-laden.
It wasn’t the old prophets, the disciples; it wasn’t the mother of Jesus, St Paul or St Peter.
But his name is Jesus: and there’s nothing wrong with the name of Jesus.
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
The Devil and all of his imps have tried to blind peoples eyes, to the revelation of the name of Jesus.
But the same thing that was told to me over 30 years ago is still true tonight, “it’s all in the name”
Sign your check Father or Son Or Holy Ghost and it won’t get anything but put your name on the check, and you can take it to any bank in town.
There’s nothing wrong with the name of Jesus.
It’s good in the midnight hour, it’s good when your kids are sick, it’s good when your in trouble, and it’s also good when I pray, or when I sing or when I preach.
It’s good enough to be baptized in, it’s good enough to pray over my food with, and it’s also good enough to die by.
Because he’s coming back for those that are called by that name, who are not ashamed of his name.
You can walk into some churches tonight and tell the Pastor or Priest or Minister that you want to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and see what they tell you.
Some will say well, we will baptize you in the name of the Father or the Son or even the Holy Spirit. It really don’t matter what formula we use, we’ll use whatever formula you want.
But the Lord told Peter the man that the Lord said he would give the keys to the kingdom of heaven to.
Matt 16:19-20
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
He was Jesus Christ; and he gave Peter the message, the Keys, or if you please the plan for salvation.
That’s why Peter could stand up on the great day of Pentecost, and proclaim in front of 16 different nations;
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
It’s the very same message Jesus preached in;
John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Why because; That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Ye must be born again.
The 1st time you were born you took on your Mother and Fathers name, the 2nd time you get born of the Spirit you take on the name of Jesus.
Not Father, not Son, and not Holy Ghost. But Jesus Christ!
And there’s nothing wrong with the name of Jesus!
Acts chapter 5 we find the Apostles before the Sanhedrin Government.
The Bible says in Acts 5:27-28
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine.
Whether you realize it or not there is societal pressure we face as ministers water down the message of Jesus Christ, there will be those that say lets just have a feel good service and get through this and no one will be offended.
But can I say as Peter said; We ought to obey God rather than men.
As a young Pastor I want to I want to stand in the face of the enemy that has come to deceive so many with lies and ½ truths. And proclaim if it means that I have to quit preaching and baptizing in the name of Jesus to have a large church you can forget it! “BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE NAME OF JESUS”
He pulled me out of a world of sin, my life had no purpose or direction, I had no love and no reason for living, but I fell on my knees and called on the name of Jesus, and he gave me Joy and Peace and Happiness and now I have a reason to live.
There’s nothing wrong with the name of Jesus!
There are some that you will see on the T.V. or here on the radio that will put us down and call us Jesus only people. The same thing was true in Jesus day.
They beat them and whipped them and commanded them not to preach or to speak the name of Jesus.
But Gamaliel advise to the Sanhedrin Government was to let them alone if this is not of the Lord it will come to naught, but if this is the Lord’s doing there’s nothing you can do about.
Guess what it started over 2000 years ago, and it’s the fastest growing religion movement today.
The latter house will be greater than the former house.
The message of Jesus Christ will stand when this world is on fire.
And if you here tonight and you don’t know that name, you better get acquainted with that name, you better take on the name, for there is salvation in the name of Jesus Christ.
Nothing wrong with the name of Jesus!
People make movies about him, they write songs about him, they pray in that name, they cast out devils in that name, they prophesy in that name, they preach in that name.
I ask? If we do all that, then why not get baptized in that name.

Phil 2:9

Acts the 3rd chapter Peter and John was on there way to the temple to pray and they came across a lamb man by the gat they said to him. Silver and Gold have I none, but such as I have in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Something tells me to a large degree we really don’t understand the power that is that name.
James 2:19
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jesus said Matt 4:10
Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve
There is only one name that reigns supreme in this universe and that name is Jesus. And there is nothing wrong with that name.
There are 248 names and titles given to God in the scripture; (6) Hebrew names, (18) Jehovah names. The prophet Isaiah said his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father.
But I ask you, What’s that name.
The angel of the Lord told Mary and Joseph, thou shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
There’s nothing wrong with the name of Jesus!
The bible declares over 300 times that there is but (1) God, and that his name is Jesus. Preachers all over this country will preach that there are (3) Gods and not have one scripture to back them up.
But we as Apostolic people believe what the Bible tells us (1) Lord, (1) Faith (1) Baptism.
And we have found out that we use that name of Jesus, we find.
· Deliverance* Healing* Victory* Strength* Salvation* and Hope.
John said in the book of Revelation; Hold fast to that name!
Same have set it aside and said it’s not important, they have disregarded it And watered it down, and said there’s no values to it.
But I have found that it has given me power over the enemy.
We can tread on serpents, heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead, and cast out devils, in that name.
What’s wrong with the n name of Jesus.
Don’t be ashamed of it, don’t be afraid of it, don’t turn your back on it, don’t reject it, and don’t mock it. But run toward it, and love it.
Prov 18:10
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
