God The Maker of Man
Rev. Robert Ziriak

(Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, Genesis 5:1, Job 33:4, Hebrews 11:3)

I. Unquestionably, God is the maker of man.

  • A. Evolution is a theory…creation is a doctrine.
  • B. There is no substantial proof to support the theory of evolution.
  • C. There is undeniable proof of the existence and intervention of God who is the creator of all things and the Maker of Man.

II. God, in the beginning of creation, spoke worlds into existence.

  • A. God spoke light into being.
  • B. God spoke the atmosphere into existence as well as the oceans.
  • C. By His spoken word, God created the land, grass, trees, plants, fruit etc…
  • D. God spoke the sun, moon and stars into existence.
  • E. God spoke to the waters and created the whales, fish and birds.
  • F. God spoke to the land and created the animals, bugs and insects.
  • G. On the sixth day of creation, God spoke one more time.
    1. This time He did not use His spoken word to create…but to proclaim what He was about to do.
    2. When God is about to do something with, for or to man, He will speak and proclaim it.
    3. God spoke and declared He was going to create man.
  • H. His spoken word became His action. (Expound on creation of man)

III. Man is created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:26)

  • A. Eloyhim does not mean the plurality of gods…but the plurality of the attributes of God. Plural intensive singular meaning.
Godlike one, works or special possessions of God.
         1. Remember, we are created in His image or likeness.
    2. How many times have you heard someone say, “That kid is his/her parents twin.”?
    3. It does not mean that kid is the parent, but acts, sounds, responds just like the parent. Has the same disposition. Etc…
  • B. What are God’s attributes? (Galatians 5:22)

IV. Knowing God is our maker and we are His creation, we also know He is worthy of our love, adoration and praise.

  • A. He alone is worthy to receive glory.
  • B. We need to remember who we are & what our place in His kingdom is.
  • C. Even though God has done all this for us, the psalmist wrote, “what is man, and the son of man that thou art mindful of him?”.
  • D. God is the maker of man. He created us. He fashioned us. He formed us. We have nothing in and of ourselves to glory in His presence. (1 Corinthians 1:28-29)
