Is The Water Still Flowing?

Isaiah 48:21

The prophet Isaiah was constantly calling for Israel to turn away from the false gods of Babylon & return to the Lord God Almighty. Although he warned them over & over of the impending judgment that would come if they failed to do so, he also tried to persuade them with the historical testimonies of what God had done for them, & for their fathers.

That was the prophet’s desire here in our text when he reminded them that the Children of Israel “thirsted not when ( God ) led them through the deserts, He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them, He clave ( split ) the rock also, and the waters gushed out.”

The Apostle Paul also referred to this wonderful miracle in I Cor. 10:4, “and ( they ) did all drink the same Spiritual drink, for they drank of that Spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”

The water that flowed out of that rock gave life to the people of God!

The desert they were in was a hot, dry, barren waste land that could have killed them all, but thank God there was some water flowing!

Your physical body can go a long time without food, up to 40 days!

But your physical body can not live very long without water, maybe 3-7 days?

( probably depends on how much water has been consumed up to that point – illstr. )

I believe that our physical bodies are just reflections of our Spiritual bodies.

If that’s true, then think about this, your Spiritual body can live longer without Spiritual food than it can without Spiritual water!

What is our Spiritual food? The Word of God!

– Jesus is the Word according to John 1:1,14.

– In John 6:51 Jesus said “I am the living bread …”

– Heb. 5:12,14 refers to the Word of God as “strong meat” ( TAB – solid food ).

What is our Spiritual drink? The Holy Ghost!

– John 3:14 Jesus said, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water, springing up into everlasting life.”

– John 7:37 – 39 Jesus said, “… if any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. ( But this spake He of the Spirit … )”

Your Spiritual body can live longer without the Word of God than it can without the Spirit of God!

Food gives your body strength, but water gives your body life!

The Word of God gives you strength ( “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” – Rom. 10:17 ), but the Spirit gives you life ( II Cor. 3:6 )!

The all important question is this, “Is the water still flowing?”

If you are not drinking from that Spiritual Rock you will not live very long!

Jesus said, “out of your belly ( inner most being ) shall flow rivers of living

( running, moving ) water!”

If that Spiritual river is not flowing out of you, there are others that will not live very long either!

What do you do when you see a plant that is turning brown, & its leaves are withering away? Pour water on it! The water brings it back to life!

Church, please understand what I’m about to tell you!

When these altars are filled with sinners, whose lives are withering away because of sin, they need water!

Where are they going to get the water from? From you!

Out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water!

Are you going to let them die because you don’t have any water to give them?

Mat. 12:43 – “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places ( without water locations ), seeking rest ( recreation ) …”

The devil loves dry saints & dry churches because he knows he can have all the fun he wants to with them!

No miracles! No blessings! No new converts! No revival!

If the water hasn’t been flowing in your life like you want it to, & the devil has been walking through your dry places having fun, then I’ve got a little secret I want to share with you.

The devil can’t swim!

All you have to do, is get that river to start flowing out of you once again!

Read Psalm 105:40

The people asked! Then God gave them food! Quail & manna! God fed them!

Read Psalm 105:41

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out, they ran in the dry places like a river!

Let those rivers of living water begin to flow out of you in the name of Jesus Christ!
