Question is: Don’t kill who or what?

This Commandment lifts life to the highest level! ( SACRED )
Life is God’s gift… *** ONCE LOST, IT’S GONE *** Can’t be restored

==> Even primitive civilizations prohibited murder <==

THE POINT IS: MURDER IS MURDER ( God alone has sovereignty over life! )

NOW BE CAREFUL HERE NOT TO CONFUSE WITH ANIMAL LIFE: Like Hinduism
===> The Bible calls for MERCY to animals… Decency as God’s Creation

BUT DON’T GO OVERBOARD AND VALUE ANIMAL LIFE AS HUMAN LIFE

CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF WHAT A FALSE RELIGION WILL DO: India’s sacred cows

I’ll tell you what’s PATHETIC: People dieting in hunger while steaks and hamburgers roam the streets!

THERE IS A HIERARCHY OF LIFE

Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Genesis 9:1-6 “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth [upon] the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, [which is] the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”

SATAN IS A COUNTERFEITER… HE WISHES TO GET PEOPLE MOBILIZED AGAINST GOD’S ORDER OF THINGS!
His Spirit is behind things like: Unisex & extreme animal rights etc…

***** THE 6TH COMMANDMENT IS : “thou shalt not kill” = MURDER

KILL: (HEB – verb) -Ratsach “to kill, murder or slay… human being”
( Cain & Abel ) ( David & Uriah )

HUMANITIES OLDEST TEMPTATION —- TO BE LIKE GOD!

Commandment #6 is hinged on Commandments #1 & 2

ONLY WHEN GOD COUNTS FOR EVERYTHING, DOES A HUMAN COUNT FOR ANYTHING only when God is God — are humans really humans

THIS HIERARCHY IS NEEDFUL TO MAINTAIN IN OUR MINDS

NOW THE TOUGH STUFF: HOW DOES THIS FIT INTO THE COMPLICATED 90’s?

4 obvious areas of concern … Suicide, War, Abortion, Death Sentence

SUICIDE: Hamlet “to be or not to be”
Well, It’s my life right? It would be if you created it? God did!

I Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? “

The problem with suicide… It takes the authority away from God
( if God doesn’t allow us to kill each other, why would he allow suicide )

SUICIDE IS NOT A HUMAN RIGHT! (taking your life is God’s right)
*** Suicide places us beyond Grace… You Can’t repent before your sin ***

SUICIDE PASSES AUTO ACCIDENT AS #1 KILLER OF TEENS

Psalms 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth: [but] God [is] the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. “

SOMETIMES SITUATIONS HAPPEN THAT MAKE US EMOTIONALLY IRRESPONSIBLE FOR SOME DECISIONS… (Like Bro. Green) – Only God can judge.

WAR & CAPITOL PUNISHMENT: ( both an issue together )
THERE ARE SCHOLARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THIS ISSUE:
Some say: WAR IS ALWAYS WRONG!
Perhaps the answer here lies in our understanding of the purpose of Gov’t.

Romans 13:1-13 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. THESE VERSES VALIDATE GOVERNMENT & EVEN TAXES:

Yes it is true that a Government can get wicked & evil & to aggressive WHAT THEN?

Acts 5:27-28 “And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” IF PUSH COMES TO SHOVE – IT’S GOD WE OBEY!

But in the meantime, it is not unlawful to work for the Government… Even the military… For God indeed uses nations to bring correction against other nations.

WHAT ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL CHRISTIAN? WELL… LET’S SEE
ONE THING IS FOR SURE… OUR ATTITUDE MUST BE VERY CLOSELY INSPECTED…
War should only be a last ditch choice, after prayer, anguish, inner agony.

Titus 2:15 – 3:5 “These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost..”

Matthew 5:39-45 “But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. “

let’s look at some more NT perspective in light of the 6th Commandment:

Matthew 5:21-26 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.”

Matthew 5:43-48 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

RACA = “worthless” FOOL = “utter blockhead, stupid”

JESUS VERY SKILLFULLY MOVED THE ISSUE FROM THE ACTION TO THE HEART! The O.T. prohibited OUTER blows ===> N.T. prohibited INNER blows

ABORTION: issue: what lives in the mother?
Is it human, or part of the mother? If human: Then it deserves 6th coverage

A FETUS IS NOT A POTENTIAL HUMAN = BUT A HUMAN WITH POTENTIAL
Medical science has proved life is there with a heart beat within weeks.

Isaiah 44:2 “Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, [which] will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.”

LISTEN TO ISAIAH ==> Isaiah 49:1 “Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. “

** IN CASES OF MEDICAL EMERGENCY: THE MOTHERS LIFE SHOULD SUPERSEDE ** ——> The 6th Commandment may be SUPERSEDED, but not Broken! <——

BOTTOM LINE WITH THIS COMMANDMENT…

Jesus had a unique way of bringing the cold law of the O.T. into focus on the inner human issues in the N.T.
SOME PEOPLE MURDER SLOWLY WITH THEIR: Temper, Remarks, Insults,(raca/fool etc…)

JESUS KNEW HOW MUCH WE BREAK THE SPIRIT OF THE 6th LAW!

—> He required us to seek first reconciliation
—> He said leave your gift on the alter and go find your brother
—> We may have to fight sometimes: But we cannot hate!

Romans 12:15-19 “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. [Be] of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

DON’T KILL YOUR ENEMIES, LOVE THEM TO DEATH!

Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
