Job Asked, Jesus Answered

Job 14:4

4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Job 14:10

10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

Job 14:14

14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

INTRO: Job was a good man who enjoyed many blessings of the Lord.  He was considered to be upright, honest, and faithful before God.  In fact, we see that his integrity was something that God considered his strong “suit”.

The Bible also says that he was a very wealthy man. Along with being wealthy, he was blessed to be the father of 7 sons and 3 daughters.  Truly a man blessed of the Lord.  But we are all to aware that these blessings come to a screeching halt as Job began to have his integrity tested.  The bible says that tragedy strikes Job and his family in this order…

1.He receives word that his oxen and asses are stolen, and

some of his servants are killed.

2.Then, some lightning strikes his sheep, and more servants die

3.The next thing that happens is his camels are stolen, and

even more servants are lost.

4.Then a even more personal blow befalls Job as he hears the tragic words that all of his children have been found                         death because of a great storm

5.And, finally the physical problems began to surround him and his body begins to be covered with painful sores, and boils

It is during this time that Job begins to ramble and babble and even curse his very existence.  From his inner groanings comes 3 questions that would not receive an immediate answer.

Question #1 – “Who Can bring a clean thing out of an Unclean?”

Here we see Job wallowing in his perplexity.  As he asks this question, to whoever is listening….I can see him looking at his body.  Perhaps he lifts is hand to his face and sees the once healthy body he had, ravaged by infection.  He could never feel more unclean than he does at this moment.

Ÿ  Many a sinner and saint alike have moments in this walk where the long dreary task of living in a sinful world can leave a dirty residue upon the soul.  But who can make sinful people clean??

Answer  – JESUS CAN

1.     He made the woman at the well clean – John 4

2.     He made the palsied man clean – Mark 2:5

3.     He made a crooked man clean…..

Luke 19:8-9

8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

HOW DOES HE MAKE HIS CHURCH CLEAN??

John 15:3

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Question #2 – Yea? Man gives up the Ghost and where is He?

Job is thinking of the shortness of his life….

Job 14:1- Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

He compares himself to a flower…

Job 14:2- He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

JESUS ANSWERS

Lost people go to Hell……

Matt 10:28- And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Saved people go to Heaven….

John 14:1-3

14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Question #3 – “If a man Die will he Live Again?”

I can imagine Job here thinking about what happens to the body….as he looks at his sickly condition he wonders what will be of his body in death.

He possibly thinks of the loss of his children….never seeing their faces again.  Their bodies to be in his presence no more… What about the storm and the sorrow and the pain they underwent…

JESUS ANSWERS HIS FINAL QUESTION

Jesus answered this question by example……..At the tomb of Lazarus…

John 11:25- Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

HIS RESURRECTION SEALS THE DEAL!!!

1 Cor 15:20-23

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
