It’s Just A Matter Of Time

Heb 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

A small boy riding a bus home from Sunday school was very proud of the card he had received, which had a picture and a caption that read: “Have Faith in God.” Then to his
dismay the card slipped from his hand and fluttered out the window. “Stop the bus!” he cried. “I’ve lost my ‘faith in God!’”

The driver pulled the bus to a stop, and as the lad climbed out and went to retrieve his card, one of the adult riders smiled and made a comment about the innocence of youth. A more perceptive adult observed, “All of us would be better off if we were that concerned about our faith. All too often we plunge ahead on our own when we have lost our faith in
God.”

I have come today to try to help some of us find our faith in God again!

I want you to leave here today with an absolute understanding that God is ever faithful!

1. A great part of the Bible contains promises from God to His creation.

2. It has been said that when God makes a promise — faith believes it, hope anticipates it, and patience quietly awaits it.

Look at your neighbor and tell them, God can’t lie! God wont’ lie!

He will never tell an untruth, half-truth, or veiled lie!

He has a track record of faithfulness. He has a proven record of coming through in a pinch!

God spoke to a man named Abram. You will be the father of many nations. You will have more children in your lineage than the beaches have sand, than the midnight sky has stars.

Gen 17:3-8

3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

Abram, became Abraham a man carrying a promise with him. Everywhere he went, he has that promise. Every time his name is spoken, that promise is being flung at him.

After trial and error in attempting things in his own power, Abraham finally put his faith in God. 25 years after the promise, God came through.

It’s not a matter of the promise, it’s just a matter of time!

Can I tell you today, God is faithful! Can I tell you today, keep your faith in him! Can I tell you today, it’s not a matter of the promise, it’s a matter of time! Your promises from God will come to pass!

Today, promises are still seated that come from the bloodline of Abraham!

Noah, it’s going to rain!

Gen 6:13-14 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark…

120 years of laboring and preaching. People calling him nuts. No converts! Just his wife, their  3 boys and their wives.

Ark completed.

Gen 7:11-12

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

It rained. Earth opened up. Fountains flowed freely.

It may take a lifetime. It may appear that it has failed, but hang on! Its only a matter of time!

Caleb. A man of faith, vision, and passion.  One of the faith filled 2!

Josh 14:7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

He took the promise to heart! We should do the same.

He stayed faithful in spite of the majority’s decision to doubt!

He got his mountain.

What is the key to this? Stay faith filled!

Keep believing no matter the time it takes!

Hey church, its still our time!

Pastor, do you really believe that its time for an outpouring! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!

Who are we to expect it? How do we deserve it?

Joel 2:28

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;

KJV

Acts 2:38-39

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

(from New International Version)

We can’t be average, we have a promise!
