Mighty Men / Women

(2 Sam 23:8 KJV) These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

(2 Sam 23:9 KJV) And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

(2 Sam 23:10 KJV) He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

Harlot on the walls of Jericho – had faith in the God of Israel

• She lost her old way of life, but gained entrance into the Nation of Israel and the Kingdom of God!

Ester fasted and prayed – and put her life on the line

• God delivered the jews from Naman’s death warrant

(2 Sam 23:11 KJV) And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.
But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

• It wasn’t much…just a piece of ground
• No telling how many times the Philistines had pillaged it before
• No body else would have defended it!!!
• What would cause Shammah to fight for it???!!!

You see there was something different about Shammah

• He was different than anyone else:
• When the people all fled…Something in him said stand.
• When they all ran…something in him said fight.
• When they all gave up …something in him said press on.
• He was different in a way that Peter was different
• He was different in a way that Paul was different
• He was different in a way that John the Baptist was different

He stood alone.

• It didn’t matter what you thought …
• It didn’t matter what the majority thought
• It didn’t matter what the peer pressure said

He stood alone.

• He knew what his responsibilities were
• He knew what his calling was
• He knew who he was
• and He knew who his God was.

God is looking for a Shammah in these last days

• He’s looking for an Ester
• He’s looking for a Saul of Tarsius who he can anoint with the power of the Holy Ghost to become Paul the Missionary
• He’s looking for a Simon the fisherman who will become Peter – the Evangelist to the world!

(Ezek 22:30 KJV) And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

• Somebody better stand in the Gap
• Somebody better begin to pray
• Someone better fast
• Someone get concerned for the lost

Jesus is coming back

• He’s coming with rapture for the church
• but He’s coming with vengeance for the wicked.
• If you don’t reach out to that family member – Who’s going to?
• If you don’t reach out to that neighbor – Who’s going to?
• If you don’t talk to that coworker – Who’s’s going to ?

Who’s going to…

• pray for them
• invite them to church
• teach them a bible study
• win them to God.

I’ll tell you who……………NOBODY!!!
You’re it!
You’re the one
You have a calling on your life and it’s NOT

• to warm a pew
• to take up space
• But it’s to reach out to a lost and dying world.
• It’s to reach into a life that’s without Christ and lead them to Calvary!
• You are Shammah to your family
• You are Ester in your neighborhood
• You are The Eleazar that say’s I’m not letting go of this sword until I win someone to God.
• You are the Peter who used to be an old foul mouthed fisherman…
• but now you are the Evangelist to everyone around you.
• You are their hope!!!
• You are their only chance!!!
• You may be the only source of light that that life ever gets!!!

You see to the natural eye Shammah stood alone.
As far as every one around him saw…he was alone.
But let me tell you…

          When you are with God you are not alone
With God you are the Majority.

• Gideon + God = victory
• Moses + God = deliverance
• Peter + God = Pentecost
• Paul and Silas + God = deliverance from prison and a jailer’s whole house hold being saved.

I wonder what…

• You + God could equal.
• I wonder what you and a little bible study chart + God could equal.
• I wonder what your testimony + God could do for someone’s life.
• I wonder if you would be willing to Stand in a worthless field of lentils and say I’M not moving until I have revival !
