I want to talk to us for a little while on this thought “God is…”

Num 23:19

19       God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

John 4:24

24       God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Isa 8:10

10       …God is with us.

·        Matt 18:20

20       For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Job said that God was

·        great

·        mighty

·        greater than man

The psalmist said that God was….

·        Angry with the wicked every day

·        Ps 5:5  The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

But then David told us that “our God is merciful.”

Ps 116:5

Ps 62:7?8

7          God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

8          Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Isa 44:6  I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isa 43:11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

If you don’t have a savior you cannot be saved.

Without God there can be no help for the time of trouble.

There can be strength for the time of discouragement.

There can be no refuge in the time of storm.

I thank God that He is my savior.

·        No man could save me from His anger.

·        No human being could protect me from his wrath.

·        No…I need a savior that is equal to His jealousy.

·        I need someone who can protect me from His fierceness.

·        And there is only one.

·        Not three, but one.

·        Luke 5:21     Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

·        It was Jesus who walked this terra ferma and forgave men’s sins.

·        Time and time again He would say “thy sins be forgiven thee.

He never did tell Moses His name,

·        but the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said … thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Acts 2:21

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 2:38?41

38       Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
