What The Devil Is Scared Of

Revelation 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

·        Satan is a cruel and crafty foe, a master of falsehood, and has deceived many by his lies:

·        He has a synagogue (Revelation 2:9)

·        He can have a seat in a church from which to work (Rev. 2:13)

·        He has power, signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:9)

·        He deceives the whole world (Revelation 12:9, 18:3)

·        He uses sinners to prophesy, cast out devils, do wonderful works (Matthew 7:22-23)

·        He works miracles (Revelation 16:14)

·        He has his own doctrines (1 Timothy 4:1)

·        He uses false prophets, false Christs, evil men and seducers (Matthew 24:11, 2 Timothy 3:13)

·        He disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14)

·        Satan has many tactics he uses on the church to try to defeat us:

·        He accuses (Revelation 12:10)

·        He condemns (1 Timothy 3:6)

·        He devours (1 Peter 5:8)

·        He imprisons (Revelation 2:10)

·        He ensnares (2 Timothy 2:26)

·        He takes advantage (2 Corinthians 2:11)

·        He steals the Word away (Mark 4:15)

·        There are no recorded cases of demon possession in the Old Testament, but you will find it is rampant in the New Testament.  This is because the war that is being waged between God and the devil is a spiritual conflict for men's souls. That warfare moved from heaven to earth at the incarnation, and we are still fighting ground warfare!

·        If we considered only the devil’s great power, we would certainly be plagued with fear. The Psalmist prayed, “Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.” (Psalm 64:1)

·        Satan is indeed a powerful and vicious opponent, but he labors under one crippling fact – his dreaded sentence of eternal imprisonment and horrible punishment without possibility of parole! The devil must work under this terrifying reality every moment of his existence, and he knows that his time is short! What is the devil scared of? HE IS AFRAID OF FIRE!

·        Matthew 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

·        Fire in the Scripture is a symbol of the Lord’s presence and the instrument of His power, either in the way of approval or of destruction. Thus Jehovah appeared in the burning bush and on Mt. Sinai. In the midst of fire He showed Himself to Isaiah, Ezekiel, and John and will so appear at His second coming. Jehovah guided the Israelites through the wilderness with the pillar of fire. God is compared to fire, not only because of His glorious brightness but on account of His anger against sin, which consumes sinners as fire does stubble. Fire is illustrative of the church’s overcoming her enemies, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the zeal of saints and angels, of persecution and of judgment.

·        Fire, in its symbolic use, is also spoken of as purifying the spiritual natures of the people of God.

WHAT KIND OF FIRE IS THE DEVIL SCARED OF?

1.     HE IS SCARED OF GOD’S PRESENCE  (WORSHIP)

Deuteronomy 4:24  For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Hebrews 12:29  For our God is a consuming fire.

2.     HE IS SCARED OF PEOPLE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY GHOST

Luke 3:16  John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Acts 2:1-4  1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

3.     HE IS SCARED OF PEOPLE WHO TRUST GOD IN TRIALS

1 Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Daniel 3:25  He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

4.     HE IS SCARED OF PEOPLE WHO WITNESS

Jeremiah 20:9  Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Jude 22-23  22And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

5.     HE IS SCARED OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE ETERNAL PRIORITIES

Revelation 3:17-18  17Because thou sayest,  I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

1 Corinthians 3:12-13  12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

6.     HE IS SCARED OF PEOPLE WHO PRAY

Leviticus 6:13  The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

Proverbs 30:15-16  15The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:  16The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
