What “Are” You Talking About?

Acts 19:1 – ¹And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, ²He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. ³And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. ⁴Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. ⁵When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ⁶And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. ⁷And all the men were about twelve.

Have you ever read a book or seen a movie where they show a scene and then go back in time to explain what it was that you just saw?

·        That’s what I am going to do today.

And in order to really explain what has just occurred, we have to go back in time…

·        In fact, way back in time..

·        In fact, we have to go way, way back in time to the beginning of time, in fact, almost to the point at which time actually began.

·        Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. ²And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

 

1.     Earth was without form.

2.     Earth was Void.

3.     Darkness was everywhere.

4.     If you read further on you will see that the Word of God spoke and the creation sprang to life.

5.     But before the word could do it’s job,

6.     Before the firmament, and the light, and the seas,

·        and the fruit trees, and the grass,

·        and the seasons and the sun

·        and the moon and the moving creature

·        and the fowls of the air,, and the cattle,

·        and the beasts of the field, and the fish of the sea

·         and finally his greatest achievement in the process of creation the human race,

·        But none of these things could happen until  there first came a moving of the Spirit.

·        Or if I could say it this way.

·        A moving of the Holy Ghost.

 

 

Any time you see the words Holy Spirit and the words Holy Ghost, you are talking about the same thing.

·        Don’t let anyone tell you that Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are two different things.

·        Whether in the act of creation, or in the act of redemption or any other work of God the Holy Ghost is in fact the very presence of almighty God.

But we must understand from our reading today,

·        that without the moving of God’s Spirit in the earth,

·        the Word had at that point only brought forth something that was without form and void and full of darkness.

We must understand from the onset of this message in fact from the onset of time…

·        that a very important principle and law was established in the first chapter of Genesis

·        and that was that without the moving of the Holy Ghost there can be no “LIFE”

 

None!

1.     You can build a whole earth and a whole heaven, but if there is no Holy Ghost move, there is only void and darkness!

2.     You can build a nation, but if there is no Holy Ghost there is only darkness.

3.     You can build a religious institution, but if there is no move of the Holy Ghost, there will be a void.

4.     You can live for God all your life, but if there is no Holy Ghost in your soul, your Christianity will be with out form and your relationship with Him empty.

·        Hear me today!

·        Hear me believer!

·        Hear me Christian!

·        You need the Holy Ghost!!!

Another place in time that I would like to stop is Gen 41 :38³⁸And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? ³⁹And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: ⁴⁰Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. ⁴¹And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. ⁴²And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; ⁴³And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁴And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

Just prior to this reading

·        We find Joseph in a pit, sold into slavery by his own brothers.

·        We find him later imprisoned and falsely accused of his crime.

·        We find him in a desperate situation,

But one thing we know about the Holy Spirit today is…

·        No matter how dark the situation,

·        No matter how void the circumstances,

·        No matter how without form your life is…

·        God can pick you up!

·        God can turn you around,

·        And He can place your feet on solid Ground.

All you need is what Joseph had, and that is the power of the Holy Ghost manifested in your life.

How many know today that the Holy Ghost will lift you up?!!!

Somebody said…”He’ll lift you up”!!!

Yes He’ll lift you up.

·        Ezekial needed the Holy Ghost to lift him up and we find just that in Eze 11:21²⁴Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity.

·        You see if your ever going to be able to reach a world that is bound in captivity, your going to need the Workings of the Holy Spirit.

·        Is it any wonder that Jesus himself referred to the Holy Ghost when He said in John 7:37 If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. ³⁸He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. ³⁹(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

·        Someone said well I’m a believer, …Mark 16:17 ¹⁷And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Now what’s he talking about…new tongues???

·        In the original Greek it means…a language not learned by natural means.

·        You see receiving the Holy Ghost is a supernatural experience.

·        Is it any wonder we find Jesus telling his followers in Lk 24:49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Here is the dilemma of the church.

·        Here is the dilemma of Christianity

·        Here is where the controversy begins.

·        Here is where the division starts.

·        Here is where a believer can make the biggest mistake of their live.

They don’t tarry for the Holy Ghost.

·        They don’t tarry for the infilling.

·        They try to become something that the Holy Ghost Himself must enable you to become.

·        How can you have church without the Holy Ghost???!!!

·        How can you live victorious without the power from on high?

·        How do you defeat devils of your own strength…???

·        You need the power of the Holy Ghost!!!

·        Jesus said in Acts 1:8  ^… ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:…

If you think you can live in victory  in this world with out the Holy Ghost… you’re sadly mistaken…

·        If you need power in your life today….you can have it .

·        All you need is the Holy Ghost!!!
