In Lesson 2: Twenty Reasons Not to Sin, Sin is primarily a wrong relationship with God. It may express itself in wrong attitudes or actions toward God Himself or toward other human beings. Scripture stressed that this condition is deeply rooted in human nature. Only God is able to break its penalty and power. “Sin will keep you longer than you intended to stay, take you further than you intended to go, and cost you more than you intended to spend.” If we could only see sin as God sees it, we would never sin again! Not just because of eternity, but because of the consequences in our lives now. It is true that sin results in punishment in eternity; it is also true that sin contains punishment within itself.
