Spiritual Warfare

Everybody faces spiritual struggles when they work on their relationship with God. One of Satan’s greatest tactics is deceit. So many times, we assume that the struggle we’re facing is just a natural battle, but then we realize just beneath the surface something far more complex is taking place. We are under spiritual attack!

We need to pray for spiritual discernment to defeat the enemy. We won’t win this battle without God directing us through it. Satan has different plans for our lives than God does; we must incline ourselves unto God to stay on the right path.

2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV)

11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Satan is aware of our weaknesses. He’s been studying humans since Adam and Eve. In fact, he’s so cunning that he deceived Adam and Eve, who were the very first humans. Satan knows what he is doing. He knows how to tempt people. He knows exactly what buttons to push and when to push them. We shouldn’t be ignorant of his strategies. We’re giving Satan the upper hand when we fail to familiarize ourselves with his devices.

We can’t live our lives with our spiritual eyes shut. We must walk in the spirit and be aware of what is taking place around us.

Satan wants to take away our spiritual tenacity. He’s just as eager to mislead us as we are to grow in our relationship with God. He knows that he can’t defeat God, but if he can get our eyes off the things of God and on to anything else, he’s succeeded in defeating us. Our commitment to God is tested continually and prayer alone won’t get us through our trials. We must be watchful of Satan and sold out to God.

Satan is an extremely frustrating demon. During a spiritual attack, he will use anything he can to weigh us down, confuse us, and bring us to a place of siege. He wants to make it as difficult as possible for us to be Christians. Satan is the slippery substance between us and the foundation we stand on.

Psalm 17:5 (KJV)

5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

Many people struggle to find the inner peace they need. Unfortunately, what they don’t realize is that they’ve allowed Satan to take away their peace. When the devil has a hold of us, it’s very easy to become irritated and exhausted. The enemy does all that he can to bring fatigue on us, not only mentally, but physically as well.

No matter how fatigued, however, we need to fight the urges to shut down and avoid our responsibilities. God created everyone with a unique purpose that we are commissioned to fulfill. Don’t let Satan’s pestering get between you and your purpose!

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Don’t settle for the thought that Satan’s your only enemy; he has an entire host of evil spirits that would just love to find a way inside you and torment you. That’s why it’s so important that we keep our eyes on truth.

Galatians 3:1 (KJV)

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

We must surround ourselves with truth, because Satan’s deceitful ways seek to kill us.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Don’t let this spirit devour you! If you keep your eyes on Jesus, Satan can’t get your attention!

1 John 4:4 (KJV)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)

17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
