It’s 5:00 Somewhere

Deuteronomy 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

Psalm 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Lamentations 2:18 Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.

Joel 1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Zechariah 2:8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

Jimmy Buffet once wrote a song called “It’s 5:00 Somewhere.” The premise of the song was that 5:00 was happy hour and that somewhere in the world It was 5:00, so it was acceptable to have a drink. Now I don’t know how much I agree with Jimmy Buffet’s reasoning’s, but there’s definitely something the church can take away from this old song.

Mirrors are honest. They reflect exactly who and what you are, whether it be: fat, skinny, pretty, ugly, etc…

When you look at yourself in a mirror, you have to have some value in yourself. People will never be 100% happy with how they look; they’re always going to want to look better than they currently do. If you don’t have value in yourself, then, odds are, no one else will either.

Our value or self-image is portrayed in: dress, personal hygiene, how we treat others, quality in our own performance, etc…

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

God: chose you, bought you, loves you, and still chooses you.

Sometimes circumstances have a way of devaluing us. When I look at all of my baggage and problems, how could I ever be considered favored, blessed, or the “apple of His eye”?

My favorite people are my family. I love my wife and children to death, but are they perfect? Are they without problems? No! They’re far from perfect, but no matter what; they are still my favorites!

Sin removes us from fellowship with God, but repentance restores us right back.

You cannot earn God’s love or favor!

Joel 1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Your life is a direct reflection of your image of yourself, and that, in turn, stops the flow of God to lift you up above your problems.

We are the apples of His eye!

Joy is what we are after in our lives. Happiness is fleeting. Joy remains!

I want to live an OVERCOMING LIFE!

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

No matter our circumstances, problems, struggles, burdens, baggage, etc…; It’s 5:00 Somewhere!

The Creator Of The Universe Loves Me!
