The Functional Family

The Functional Family

In this sermon The Functional Family, we acknowledge, there is a fallacy in our world that is an illusion called the Functional Family. People believe that there are some whose families operate in some sort of perfection of harmonious love. The perfect family doesn't exist. As we refer to the scriptures, we will see many examples of dysfunctional families, including the first family of Adam and Eve. We learn this church is a family. This church is a group of people who come together as one unit. This church is made up of a bunch of people who don’t have everything correct just yet. It may look like we’ve got it all together. But, give us time and we will find a way to mess it up because we are human. Just like in a marriage. Though reality is going to kick in for some of us and we are going to realize that everyone here is not perfect. Some of us are going to realize that this church is made up of some people that we just don’t understand. They may not understand you either. This is why grace is so important. This is why forgiveness is so important, and why acceptance and love is so important. I may not understand you, but I can still love you.
