The Consequences of Backsliding

The Consequences of Backsliding

The Scriptures speak much about backsliding, because it is a very serious matter- with very severe consequences. A backslider is someone who once enjoyed the blessings and favor of God as his own child. He walked before the Lord with a devoted, humble and pure heart. He loved praying and digging into God's word. He vowed, "I will serve the Lord always, with all my heart." In this lesson, we read the passage about Jeremiah, who loved the Lord, and was faithful. Soon he lost the fear of the Lord. He no longer trembled at the word of the Lord. His heart slowly grew cold. He quit going to God's house. He removed himself completely from the Lord's presence - and headed toward apostasy.
