Hand Out or a Hand Up?
In this sermon Hand Out or a Hand Up, The Bible tells us that Jesus fed a crowd of 5,000. The next day, many searched for him, just for more of the free food. They wanted “natural bread” when the “bread of life” was standing there talking to them. They got upset, and complained because he wanted to preach to them instead of giving them more free food. Often carnal people do this when the preacher is right but they don’t like it. This is the time of the year that most everyone is aware of other’s needs and they try to bless them with either a gift or a necessity such as money, food, clothing. It’s important for us to be a blessing to other people especially those that are in need and not one time a year but year round. Jesus has a way of looking into our hearts and knowing whether we are interested in him as our savior or just what he can give us. Following the Lord will show if we’re authentically believing in his Word. Only Jesus Christ, the living Bread can satisfy our spiritual hunger. We need to be interested in God. Not just what he could give us. We don't need a handout, we need a hand up out of sin. We need a hand up out of this wicked world and not just another hand-out.
