In this sermon God's Word Against Legalism, we will be able to determine how legalistic we are,  and understand what legalism is. Legalism is CONFORMITY TO LAW. Conformity to law is good. We need to be legalistic in society so we do not go to jail. However, when it comes to RELIGION, legalism is a bad thing. In religion, legalism is reliance upon GOOD WORKS FOR SALVATION. And when it comes to LAW in the Bible, law was salvation by works. The New Testament teaches that it is impossible to be saved by works of the Old Testament law. Legalism in the church is a bad thing. First of all to understand legalism, you have to familiar with the term RIGHTEOUSNESS.
