Somewhere In The Storm

Mark 6:45-52 (NKJV)

45 Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. 46 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. 47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48 Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. 49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

·        This story comes just after the Miracle of feeding the five thousand men, not counting women and children.

·        This miracle was representative of God’s Provision for His people.

·        Jesus told his disciples to go to Bethsaida (The birthplace of Simon-Peter, Andrew and Philip)

·        God sent them on a mission…

·        God never let his disciples stay in one place too long.  God is not content to let you stay in one place too long in your walk with Him.  That’s why you are constantly moving from blessing to trial!

·        Jesus was sending them back to where they were born.  God want so get you back to where you first began life!

·        There are some of you who came in contact with God years ago, but it’s been along time since you’ve been back to that place where you first met Him.

·        You are not in the service this morning for no reason.  It is because God has ordained for this to be your opportunity to get back to Him…

·        Your Bible tells you that while they were on their way to meet Jesus that a storm arose.

·        But I want you to notice with me the exact wording of scripture here.  The Bible says in verse 48, “Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by.

·        He saw them in their predicament, and was in fairly close proximity to them, but did not force them to accept His help…

·        There are sometimes while you are going through the trials of your life, and you become so focused on the circumstances that you don’t even realize that the Master of the Storm is walking right beside you!

·        He is somewhere in your storm!

·        The scripture reads on in verse 49, “And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

·        The Word of God tells us the reason why the disciples doubted in verse 51, “And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

·        They almost lost their lives because, they did not understand God’s provision of them!  Before they ever stepped in the boat, Jesus’ words to them were, “Go to the other side.”

·        The reason why people are taken under by the trials and storms of their lives is because they do not understand God’s provision for them.

·        But I have come to inform you of God’s provision for your life!

·        He wants you to repent of your sins.

·        He wants you to get baptized in Jesus’ Name.

·        And He wants you to receive the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues!

·        That’s God provision for you!

·        The Bible says that the reason they didn’t understand God’s provision was because their hearts were hardened.

·        I pray that your heart is not hardened to what I have preached to you this morning.

·        Let us pray that God would move in this place right now!

·        God has met you in your storm today.  Will you cry out to Him so that He can deliver you?
