Behavior does not indicate what’s going on inside of the heart. It can give us hints, but never the full truth. In this series, “Cross My Heart,” the dangers of not watching after our hearts are made apparent. If you can’t seem to figure out why you’re experiencing inconsistencies in your life, then you may need a change of heart.

Sermons In This Series

Cross My Heart, Part 1

Jeremiah 17:9-9

The reason we rarely stop to monitor our hearts is that it was never encouraged. As children, we were taught instead to monitor our BEHAVIOR. If we behaved properly good things happened, regardless of what was going on in our hearts. We modified our behavior to avoid pain, and we’ve been doing it ever since. Consequently, we become much better at monitoring our behavior (actions and words) than our hearts. [ read more...]

Cross My Heart, Part 2

Matthew 15:18-19

Things that stay in the darkness grow exponentially over time, and finally break through the filter we have put in place. They cause us to act in ways that others don’t understand, and develop habits that even we don’t understand (and can’t break). [ read more...]

Cross My Heart, Part 3

Proverbs 4:23-23

We are tempted to treat the symptoms that stem from an unhealthy spiritual heart while ignoring the deeper issues. But as is the case with the physical heart, eventually the root problem will become the real problem. Just as a heart attack can destroy your body, spiritual heart disease will eventually destroy you and your most valuable relationships. [ read more...]

Cross My Heart, Part 4

Proverbs 4:23-23

When we DON’T have enough, we don’t hesitate to talk to God about it? So why don’t we do that when we have MORE than enough?! [ read more...]

Cross My Heart, Part 5

Jeremiah 17:9-9

Life can be hard on the heart, because the world is full of outside influences that have the power to disrupt its rhythm. Over time you develop habits that slowly erode your heart’s sensitivity. The inevitable pain and disappointment of life cause you to set up walls around your heart. At the end of the day, your heart gets out of sync with the rhythm it was created to maintain. And if left alone, these “heart attackers” will linger for a lifetime and do incredible damage. [ read more...]

Image for series A Man Of Macedonia

A Man Of Macedonia

Alexander the Great was from Macedonia and went on a military campaign where he and his armies conquered most of the known world at the time. Not only did he conquer the world, but he managed to get most of the regions that he conquered to declare him to be a living god. His home town of Macedonia thought of him as a son of Zeus; the priests in Jerusalem didn’t declare him to be God, but they did tell him that he was the fulfillment of the prophecy in Daniel 8; the Egyptians did declare him to be Pharaoh and the son of the god Amun; there are some who even think that he influenced the development of Buddhism. Everywhere that Alexander the Great, the original “Man of Macedonia,” went he was told that he was divine; a living deity living among mortal men. What Alexander The Great didn't realize was the impact he would have on people after his death. [ read more... ]

You Matter

People Matter. They matter to God and they should matter to us. One of the biggest hindrances to growth in any church is the general lack of compassion for other people. We easily find reason to dismiss someone from being someone we would introduce to Jesus due to how they look or what our impression of them is. However, They Matter. Just how they are at this very moment. This series will help your church to understand the urgent need to love people and to embrace them regardless of where they are at in their life. Without this, people will remain lost and our churches will not grow. [ read more... ]
