Living the Good Life, Part 1

John 1:4-5

When we say someone is living the good life, we generally mean they have an abundance of resources. However, Jesus came to teach us otherwise. In John's gospel, life is equal to light and light is equal to Jesus; if you don't have Him, you don't have life! [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 2

John 10:10-10

Although Nicodemus was a 'master of Israel,' he didn't understand the salvation equation. He was deeply confused, because Jesus said that we must be "born again," which makes no sense physically. Thankfully, Jesus defines the new birth as being born of the water and of the spirit. That's why if you're only born once, you have to die twice, but if you're born twice, you only have to die once. Living the Good Life, Part 3

John 10:10-10

A relationship with God that has no means of balance is just as good as not having a relationship with Him in the first place. As Christians, we must stand on our rock, Jesus Christ, to be effective in our walk with Him. If we don't do things His way, we don't please Him. [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 4

John 3:16-16

A lot of Christians are exactly like the people who waited at the pool of Bethesda; always waiting for the 'ideal' moment to change. They watch others be blessed, saved, and healed, but they still lay around waiting for some help. Fortunately, even amongst their multitude of excuses, Jesus is still standing in front of the pool saying, "wilt thou be made whole?" [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 5

John 8:3-11

The law of God was given to reveal sin and we must be convinced by it before we can be cleansed by God's grace. Law and grace do not compete with each other; they complement each other. Nobody was ever saved by keeping the law, but nobody was ever saved by grace who wasn't first indicted by the law. There must be conviction before there can be conversion. [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 6

John 11:3-32

God is not frightened or perplexed by our situations. He knows exactly what He's 'doing,' and what He's 'allowing.' Just like we enjoy showing off a new car, toy, or our children's talents, God enjoys proving us to the devil and to the world in life's ordinary circumstances. When we can't see what God's doing, we have to hold onto His promise. [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 7

John 12:3-6

There are many people who get 'concerned' about the extravagance of true worship. They will tell you that their concerns are warranted; that there isn't a need for all that noise, emotion, music, and excitement. But they don't realize that God's order is much different than ours. [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 8

John 13:4-5

Insecure people are always worrying about how they appear to others; they fear exposure of their weaknesses and hide beneath layers of protective pride. The more insecure you are, the more you will want people to serve you. But when you base your identity on your relationship with God, that allows you to serve others best. [ read more...]

Living the Good Life, Part 9

John 20:26-29

The human imagination is an incredible faculty. With it we can make printed pages come alive as we create mental images of people, places, and events that we have never seen. Unfortunately, our imagination does serve us well, but is severely limited. So many time, even with scripture, we have such a 'sanitized' mental image of scene that we rob ourselves of much of the impact of the actual event. The most obvious example would be the crucifixion of our Savior. [ read more...]

A Man Of Macedonia

Alexander the Great was from Macedonia and went on a military campaign where he and his armies conquered most of the known world at the time. Not only did he conquer the world, but he managed to get most of the regions that he conquered to declare him to be a living god. His home town of Macedonia thought of him as a son of Zeus; the priests in Jerusalem didn’t declare him to be God, but they did tell him that he was the fulfillment of the prophecy in Daniel 8; the Egyptians did declare him to be Pharaoh and the son of the god Amun; there are some who even think that he influenced the development of Buddhism. Everywhere that Alexander the Great, the original “Man of Macedonia,” went he was told that he was divine; a living deity living among mortal men. What Alexander The Great didn't realize was the impact he would have on people after his death. [ read more... ]

He speaks all the love languages and will accept your affection in whatever way you can express it. [ read more... ]

You Matter

People Matter. They matter to God and they should matter to us. One of the biggest hindrances to growth in any church is the general lack of compassion for other people. We easily find reason to dismiss someone from being someone we would introduce to Jesus due to how they look or what our impression of them is. However, They Matter. Just how they are at this very moment. This series will help your church to understand the urgent need to love people and to embrace them regardless of where they are at in their life. Without this, people will remain lost and our churches will not grow. [ read more... ]
