Judgmental - To Be or Not To Be - That is the Question!
Acts 7:51-58
Topic:
The Church
What does it mean not to be judgmental? Consider a situation as simple as buying toothpaste.
There are a lot of choices on the store shelves: tartar control, striped, popular brands, generic brands, whitening formulas, tubes of many sizes, pumps, etcetera. There is nothing that a person can do that avoids the necessity of making a judgment of some kind. Clearly, avoiding judgments is not a warning to avoid decisions. It is obvious, therefore, that the Christian's life is filled with decisions, moral decisions and refusing to compromise the Truth, requires that the discerning Christian be (gasp!) "judgmental." Stand for Truth or Fall for Anything
Matthew 7:13-14
Topic:
Revival
In the 70’s a popular saying was "If it feels good, do it." Today we hear that same mentality expressed in sentiments like: "What’s truth for you may not be truth for me." The saying has so thoroughly saturated our culture that our top value as a nation is tolerance. Tolerance today does not merely mean that you accept another person for who they are. No indeed! Today the term “tolerance” means you must affirm and endorse people’s values and behaviors as well, if not you are a bigot or some other malicious creature. [ read more... ]

Fundamentals Of Spiritual Growth
1 Corinthians 3:6-6
Topic:

The Epistle to the Hebrews is difficult to translate because so much of the content concerns the Jewish culture and religious rituals. Much of those concepts are totally foreign to the Agta people who live in the northern Philippines. However, some parts of the epistle really make sense to them, like the verse in Hebrews 4:12, "The Word of God is living and potent." Depending upon the context, the Agta word madagat can mean stinging, venomous, or potent. A poisonous snake is madagat, but so are some medicines that can heal. One translation assistant explained his understanding of how the Word of God is potent this way: [ read more... ]
