In this lesson, we learn of an Alternative to Destruction: Transformation. God sought to destroy Israel and wipe them out. He would then raise up a new nation from Moses. There would then, not be the land of Israel today, but very likely, the land of Moses. But Moses intervened. God's wrath was circumvented by a man who intervened. Mankind was on his way to the tree of life, as Israel was on their way to the land of Canaan. Jesus Christ came and decided to take the brunt of humanity's punishment and die instead of us. God decided, through means of intercession, that the old critter had to die, and then, the human spirit would be reborn.
