The above words flow from what had been stated about Joseph, because of all the terrible things that happened to him. To become something better for God usually requires that we experience a Season Of The Worst. One seems to be required for the Harvest, storms, struggles, darkness and time. There are very few instant-growth and harvest experiences. They all seem to follow on the heels of hardship, problems and some things that make no sense. God, who is the Lord of everything, surely knows what is required to get the desired product and will not shortcut for anyone. The price has been set, and all must pay Full Price!

We all love to read about Joseph and how God used him to save a nation, his family, and the world. Consider all he went through to become that person. “A Fruitful Bough” would require planting, caring and sticking with it through all sorts of weather and various treatments. Fruit does not just happen. Work is involved, loneliness occurs, and elements can interfere with the Harvest. To be fruitful, requires us to be loyal, dedicated and willing to lose our rights, so that God can have His way with us.

“By A Well” shows us a person staying close to a source of health and life — WATER. That element is a must for growth, like living in the Spirit. Contact must occur often and consistently if we are to be fruitful. To have a sloppy prayer life, to miss church services often, for fruit is grown for others. Our lives must be given out, so our Father can be glorified. When we bear much fruit, God is greatly honored and others are helped.

“Branches Running Over The Wall” speaks of growth and danger. For “up on a wall” allows one to be seen by friends and foes alike. The enemy has fresh access to that person and this is one price of growth. The archers have hated him, shot at him and caused him grief, these are all a part of growth and being fruitful.

May each of us be willing to be all God wishes for our lives. Remember, Joseph won!
